Most people recommend drill bits or screw drivers for wrapping coils. I personally like to use Allen wrenches. Feels like I get a better grip on them than a drill bit. Maybe I'm just odd. Speaking of odd my fav tool for adjusting coils is a "dental scaler". That's the weird metal hook the hygienist scrapes your teeth with. Again sounds odd but it'll get down into the smallest coil and help straighten it out. Kanthal and wicking material obviously. I also vote for org cotton on that. Tweezers, clippers and a multi tool. I use my MVP to check the coils. Only other thing I can think of to help on a rebuild is YouTube. The ppl on ecf are great, but sometimes you just need to watch someone do it.

DIY liquid: order extra 1ml or 2ml syringes if you're nuts about flavors not mixing like me. I took a small box, stabbed a hole in it and wrote the flavor of that syringe below it. Keeps all my needles from getting crap on them and keeps them organized. For your first order I'd say get 20-30 10ml bottles for testing. My thought is they are a couple cents more than a 3 or 5ml bottle. You'll be amazed how many flavors you want to try out and you may want to give a couple away to get others opinions on what it needs. Also 3-5 30ml for when you get something right. Maybe that's a lot but I'm constantly tinkering looking for the perfect vape.

Looks to me like the coils would not be round and you could end up with hot spots at one of the corners.

You would think that and I worried about that too at first but I've not had that happen. To be fair I like around 2.0 ohms. I have no desire for extreme cloud chasing. If I pulled the kanthal wire really tight it most likely would have that issue. I wrap it firm but not like I'm trying to stretch the wire, if that makes sense.

I was wondering if Allen keys would work. I'm waiting on my first RDA and kanthal order for my first build.

The only additional item that I can add is a large heavy duty magnet. This is ideal for picking up small pieces (trim) of wire, as well as finding dropped atty screws/bolts. It is much easier to run the magnet over the floor to pick up the small pieces of wire than using the sole of your foot to find it. Especially on carpet.

I have a variant of this. There is a gadget available in sewing supplies stores that is basically a magnet on a telescoping stick. Run it over the floor (without crawling down there) to pick up pins, needles, small screws etc.

Some additional item I regularly use include:

Alcohol bottle (for wetting Q-Tips)
Test probes/pick set (for adjusting and cleaning coils)
Magnifying lamp (for small coils, or if older, everything)

I picked up a little tool set at Walmart for around $5 that came with mostly everything I needed.

Scissors
Two tweezers that have different angles
Wire cutters
A mini screwdriver set of 5

Will try to post link.
Just bought needle nose pliers separately, some organic cotton from Walgreens. Ordered some wire and an ohm meter and I'm set.

Is Kanthal magne...duh, of course it is, it's mostly iron.

Thank you, thank you! I've removed the last shard of wire from my heel ever!

Never heard of one of those and after a quick search, i think id rather put that kind of money towards vaping equipment, and not a bath to clean them in :p

LOL, no, it cuts down the time on the steep tremendously if you DIY. Once you try it, you won't go back.

How did u learn how to do this stuff. I would like to buy a more advanced vaping device, but it seems way too complicated so I have stuck with my halo triton. All the talk about rebuilding coils and stuff is way over my head, but I want to learn. Where would I start?

By doing what you are doing now. Read, watch youtube and ask questions. That is how I learned, but I am on these forums prolly 12 hours a day. I should apply for an admin job. :p

Another addition. A scale for DIY. (Optional item like the UC)
