wouldnt the mvp2 technically be a box mod? op stated no box mods. but for the money thats what i would get. vv/vw great battery life and it will take pretty much any atty you can think of. and you can charge stuff off of it lol. i had one and loved it for the brief time it was working (long story as to why it no longe works. has nothing to do with the build/quality of the device. lets just say outside forces. like an angry gf the wall...)
MVP V2! I'm getting one soon as we talk...wife wanna buy me a Christmas gift but every year I said No, because things I do not mind her buying for me, I already got them (impulse buy) and things I really want, are too expensive to ask her (Provari Mini, race fairings...lolz!). I'll let her buy me a MPV V2 so I can bring that with me with a PT 2 Mini when I'm riding my bike, lots of battery life and will fit in my jacket's pocket. Now I'm planning to give away all my eGo batteries I have to my friends who started vaping not too long ago.
For the OP, presently I have the Stainless Steel Vamo V5 & iTaste SVD. My personal experience is that ergo wise, the Vamo feels better, smooth and fits in the hands better. However, if you're using a 510 connection tank like a ProTank, not the Mini ones that ususally use the eGo threading, there's a gap between the the base of the tank and the top of the ring on the mod. Can be solved by using a beauty ring but somehow, it seems to restrict airflow. I had to cut additional 6 grooves. Another thing I experience is the Vamo does not fire any coils less than 1.2 Ohms...which is a factor for me because I like my self wrapped 1.0 Ohms coils which greatly reduces battery drain as I work out in the field for long hours, with no access to a reliable power source to charge my 18650 battery. Last but not least, the contact pin is not spring loaded, but supported by a rubber grommet...at times when it does not make a contact, you need to lightly lift it up with a precision flat tip screw driver. I do not install my devices tightly, in fact I would sit the device, back out the beauty ring against the base of the device and then unscrew everything (device & beauty ring) a 1/8 turn and then snug it down again so I know the beauty ring is supporting the device, not just the 510 connection. The contact pin issue may be due to the fact I use different devices which has different height requirements from the pin.
The iTaste SVD mod seems to be better built, and the LOC (+/- button lock) features is handy. It has an actual spring loaded contact pin and that is good. The telescopic barrel feels a little "off" in your hands and the edges of the machining grooves can be sharp, so I made sure to lightly deburr them with a fine grit sand paper. The top ring has the right height so the base of the device sits solid and nicely. I do notice the 510 connection is brass, and gets a little loose so you want to be careful with the threads and just snug the device on. What I like about my SVD is that it can fire the 1 Ohm coil I made. That made my battery last awhile vaping at 3.1v.
I have dropped both my mods (SVD from the top of my tool chest, cracking my pyrex PT2 tank along the way, V5 slipped out of my pocket when I was eating, did not break my glass tank)) and noticed they both came loose a little at the joints where the factory pressed fit them. Able to knock them back in using a socket and a hammer but I do noticed the SVD has a tighter fit and the mod fell from a greater height. The V5 pressed fit joint below the fire button can be remove easily simply by wiggling with both hands.
Getting the Vamo V5 for me served the purpose of a cheap mod as a daily beater while the SVD sits at home, to run my favourite higher nic fluid that I do not always vape. I recommend the SVD if you're considering the Vamo V5.
Cheers!
