So you preserved the original eGo electronics.. eh?
How is the perceived performance now? I'm interested in your take on the power reduction associated with the eGo electronics and their "poor man's approach" at voltage regulation.
Nicely done
If I had a lathe I would have come up with a similar design. I had to settle for a boxed eGo running an 18650.
There is a slight difference in performance when operating without the PCB, but it is nothing to write home about. A set regulated voltage of 4.2V (unloaded) and the difference is indeed noticeable.
Considering the "poor man's" approach to power regulation, I would have to say that it is pretty efficient (size wise) but I don't have the required equipment to endorse my claim. Owning a plethora of devices, the eGo is still one of my favourites. The latter could very well be subjective.
Switched,
Just an FYI: Put some new traces up here: http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/joye-510/65055-battery-voltages-surprise-37.html that show how the "latest revision" of the eGo PCB (yes, there has been a change) handles voltage regulation.
Kinda interesting.
Wicked Minus. I didn't know you had a custom tube. I thought you actually MOD'd a MOD (like a Silver Bullet). Seriously, if you want to make another, PM me with a price. I would love to have one of like that pictured (unfortunately, I would have to guess you are in Canada or the EU based on the use of metrics?) that piece. I know if the switch ever went bad, just dissect an eGo head a viola...Is the eGo head press fit in or soldered?
