Hey there. I recently posted my "about to make my first order" list here, which included a Joye510 and PCC from Cignot. However, after a bit more research (I out-think myself sometimes), it seems that the Tornado/eGo might be the better choice. I'm going to make a list of perceived plusses/minuses with the two and would love it if someone would evaluate the list and tell me from experience just how important each upside/downside is, so I can make the best decision.

Tornado/eGo upsides:

  • Clearly the battery life is better on these, although the PCC with the 510 goes a long way toward eliminating that concern.
  • Consistent vapor from start to finish of battery life - no diminishing. This seems quite nice.
  • Better vapor? Not sure about whether this is true.
  • Charger that comes with it has both USB and AC functionality. 510 only has USB, I believe.
Downsides:

  • Doesn't come with PCC, so no built-in way to store extra carts I have preloaded for the day. They will have to rattle around in my pocket.
  • No PCC = perhaps an overall shorter battery life than the 510 when you factor that in?
  • I know the 510 is highly customizable. All sorts of stuff exists for it. Not 100% sure this all works with the Tornado/eGo.
Anyway, that's about it. I'd also appreciate a link to the best place to find a Tornado/eGo starter kit deal, if anyone has that info. I'm really looking to minimize startup costs here. Not by buying the cheapest product, but by buying only ONE product and being comfortable that it's the best decision. The price on a 510/PCC kit is $65, while the Tornado/eGo seems to be $80. The $15 difference is negligible, as long as I make the right decision.

Thanks again!

I vote eGo and some sort of carrying case... for the extra batt & carts if you are worried about needing 10+ hours of vape time away from a USB port.

Been vapin' since mid January and only use the stock 510 batts when I visit a new place to ask if it is OK to vape there (in an APA pool league so we visit a lot of bars). Find that asking about vaping in the bar/showing others about eCigs is just easier with something that looks more like an analog. So far, only one bar denied me. At least 5 so far said OK!!!

I have purchased a number of mods and the eGo is currently my fav. I'm allowed to vape in the office so I'm hitting the thing all day. It almost lasts 9~5, not quite.

Good luck. I wish I found these forums before jumping in with both feet. Still, I'm very happy with the 510 atties and all my mods accept them which is, for me, required.

The eGo is a 510 with a bigger longer lasting battery. You will not need a pcc with it as the 2 batteries you get with the kit will outlast what the pcc will be able to do anyway.

The vapor from the eGo seems to be warmer and more consistent than my normal 510 and battery life for me being a heavy vapor is around 6-10 hours per battery as opposed to 45mins-1 hour with my normal 510.

As far as customization goes anything you can do to the 510 you can do to the eGo apart from some sort of battery mod.

If you want my honest opinion, I wish I had just started with the eGo instead of going with the 510 because since I have had it my normal 510 batteries have just been sitting in my drawer.

Does anyone know of a good eGo carrying case that would hold both batteries + some carts? I'm concerned about carrying all this stuff and having it just rattle around in my pocket.

The kit I got from heavens gifts came with a little carry case in it, enough to fit the eGo, an extra battery and spare atties and carts. It is a cloth case around 15cm long x 5cm width with a button to close it at the end.

I'm not sure if all kits come with it as I've heard some come with 2 atties and some with only 1. My kit came with 2 atties, 2 batteries, a usb fast charger with a USB/AC adapter as well for the wall. A 510 to 901 converter and 5 prefilled carts with lo, med, high strengths which i will probably never use. And the little cloth carry pouch.

Ha, that's perfect. I don't believe the kit on the Janty site comes with that, thanks a lot!

I've used the Joye 510 for 3-4 months but just this week went to the Janty eGO. Battery life is the BIG difference. My battery lasted a full 7-8 hours yesterday and I've heard of longer runs. The great thing for me is that I can still use my 510 atomizers and carts, so that cut costs right away. The cone with the eGo has also stopped any leaking of juice on my fingers, and I like that too. So far, no cons with my eGo.
My wife still prefers her 510 and I've read here of many husband-wife situations where the guy goes to the eGo and she stays with the 510. Must be a power thing with us guys.

Hey Keke,
Welcome to the ECF Forum, first..
I will let you know some pointers here to help make up ur mind..
The 510 is a 180mah batt (unless u go with the Mega = 280mah). Short time for vaping, avg is 1.5 hrs.. Also, the PCC is expensive no matter where u get it. (unless u go to a chinese site. Then its customs and time b4 getting) and the warranty isn't the best for the 510..
Also, after about 5 hits, you tend to lose power and vapor and taste.
Now the eGo is @ 650mah. Avg lasting time is 8.5hrs.. No PCC needed and yes, you will need to get a case to carry another batt and juice/carts.
The taste is better and the only time the taste from the eGo is diminished is the last puff you get b4 the battery goes dead.
Thats the best of the eGo so far!
Also the cone helps to warm the liquid and if you decide to drip, will catch any extra liquid that might come out. (yes, at times this happens to the drippers.) From JantyUSA is the place to go, (unless your from another country. then u need to go to the proper thread on Janty World) there is a 6 month warranty on every part of the eGo. Yes, EVERY PART has a 6 month warranty!! :) This depends on which type of batery you might go with, ie: manual or automatic. (manual is better for drippers as there is NO hole in the middle for the liquid to go to)...
You can use any 510 charger for te eGo, but I suggest to use the quick wall usb adaptor/usb cable that comes with - in the kit as this charges the eGo with-in 1.5 to 2 hrs.. All the reg 510 chargers you will need an adaptor for and can take up to 8hrs to charge. (some people have reported this already)
NOTE: DO NOT charge any 510 battery on the eGo quick charger as this may and will cause damage to the battery and user.
So, as you can see, the eGo is the best way to go and I do suggest the eGo.
I have a video on this @ www.youtube.com/thestubear62 and watch this for anything I may have missed.
Best of luck on which way you go..

Stu,

Great info! Thanks a lot for that. One question - why get it off JantyUSA rather than heaven-gifts, seeing as heaven gifts gives a carrying case with the kit?

The only thing I can think of is that Janty supply a 6 month warranty on their kit, but HG is very good from my experience if you get something from them and it dies, they have always replaced things for me no hassle so that is sort of a warranty there anyways.

Otherwise its up to personal choice. My main shop is always HG as I like their service, prices and delivery times.

Edit: If you are in the USA, janty will probably be able to get it to you quicker though as it will not have to go through customs. Just a thought.

I have used both the 510 and pcc combo and the tornado and have to say that the tornado/ego is way better.

Also as far as price goes the tornado is cheaper.

You get an extra atty which is worth around $10 5 more carts which is worth around $2.50 and there is a 7.5% discount code that all adds up to around $20 and the only sacrifice is it takes a few hours longer to charge which means nothing since the battery lasts longer than the charge time.

I guess if the warrenty is important to you you would go with the ego but I tend to not take advantage of things like that and instead would use the cheaper price to justify including another entire battery in my order and throw away what is basically a disposable item.

My tornado has performed great over the last few month that I have owned it so I guess if I had a problem I would have wished I would have gotten the other version.

Some people around here hate Totally wicked but I have yet to have a problem with them so take that for what you will.

Get the Ego.. It's not fun switching out the little batteries and half the time the PCC doesn't charge etc and it's really just one more weak link. You'll want good battery life. The TW tornado isn't a bad choice for starters since you get 2 attys and the slow charge helps the batteries last longer..

With my tornado setup I was using this $3.89 charger so I could charge both batteries when I got home. You won't need an adapter with it.

Charger

P.S. Order some juice too, wherever or whatever you buy.

Well, if you want to know what I'm using after the 510, pcc, ego, 902, chuck(though this is nice), etc..

first DIY mod

So if I use my old 510 charger to charge up the eGo batteries they will last longer? Is slower charging better for the battery because if it is I might start using my old 510 charger even though it will take longer to charge...

Edit : When I say last longer I don't mean per charge, I mean the overall lifetime of the battery.

Hi there! I just started vaping almost 3 weeks ago, and after long research through this very helpful forum, I got a Tornado. I'm still working with the first battery and first atomizer that came with the kit (it comes with two). I find I vape pretty moderately to high especially on the weekends or out and about. My battery life on my first battery died finally after 6 hours of moderate vaping. The Tornado kit also comes with a nice handy little TW black bag with a snap button to keep an extra battery, carts and an atomizer if you are going out. I use it all the time, put it in my purse and go! I play and practice pool a lot and used to chain smoke 4-5 hours straight through a pack of cigs each time, now with vaping and the Tornado battery life, I don't stink like an ashtray, and I've at the most have gone through a cart and a half playing pool. I don't drip in the pool hall it's too inconvienient at home I do, so 510 cartomizers work really great on the go or long drives! I hope that helps! Cheers and good luck to you and your choice! I love my Tornado, and haven't had an analog since I started vaping! ( ^__^)
