I have a Tornado (ego ?) and am having trouble getting it right.
Half the time the vape is perfect and the other half either no vapor or a burned taste.

I do clean the attys every few days. I am not sure how close to the atty the filler should be -up to the end of the cartridge? A little below? I add a drop or several to the atty also and then it seems to leak around the atty.
I bought some of the blue foam from a pet store and have found that sometimes the end of it is burned and brown.

Usually 'no vapor' = flooded atomizer - remove it and blow it out from the batt end (let cool first) when that happens. If performance in general is not good, then I do a 151 proof vodka soak - 30 min. tops - but only if performance drops - cleaning atty with all the various schemes out there is the main killer of atomizers, imo. Vodka is for human consumption and the 151 proof makes it dry quickly - still blow it out after.

Mainly the bridge will determine how deep the filler is in the cartridge. I'd be surprised if the blue foam (marineland type) would be burnt - it may just be stain from ejuice but if you're using an LR atty, I guess it's possible. Keep everything soaked but not flooded. Any more than 3 drops on a regular 510 atty (LR's can take more) will flood it. Try keeping the filler wet and put 2 drops on the atty bridge and see how that goes.

For me, the only cartridge that effectively delivers e-liquid to the atomizer is the cartomizer. However, since I've never loved cartomizers, I prefer to drip (which always works) and look forward to trying a juice-fed mod when I can afford one. [NOTE: I have not yet tried the eGO mega cartomizers, but I've heard great things about them.]
