I can't even understand by reading the user manual which way the battery goes in. If someone can please help with this easy one I'd really be thankful. I've been on google and youtube and digged through the forum a bit and just can't find it.

Button up on the battery, press the button 5 times to bring up the menu.

And for future reference, that's exactly the same way the same way the battery sits in the vast majority of APVs. When you set your device on a table, the nipple will be at the top.
