Man!I just typed up a whole page of a post and the dang forum logged me out:mad:

So I will try again here.I've been vaping on a Q105 disposable, automatic battery

Got this 3.7v Ego passthru/new 2.0 atomizer.I went ahead blew out the packing fluid on the atty loaded up some RY4(also a first for me) into an empty poly filled cartridge

Primed,vaped...something not quite kosher,so I switch cartys to a totally empty(no poly-fill) one.
And then, direct drip 3 drops on the new atty.

Questions,
Tastes a little funky, does the atty require some time to "break in" or is this just RY4?

I am holding down the button as I draw(duh) right?

Am I direct dripping correctly(3drops) and How many draws about until I put more juice on the atty?

Does a pre-loaded(meaning I drip the juice on it first) poly-filled carty provide enough wetness so that the atty won't fry itself up OR should I drip some on the atty just as a preventative?

Thanks MUCH for enduring the noob here:blush:

P.S.
Also got a cartomizer, empty brand new.Clueless on how I am supposed to do it, Just drip(how much?) on the cartomizer AND do I need a tip (to draw from) for my cartomizer...and does it require a priming fluid blow out prior to use?

Some tips and carty attys come with a starting solution in them from what i have see here and some of mine. Some are preloaded. When I put a fresh atty in my carty or even a clearo i let it set for a bit. I then do not take a drag i hit the button a couple or three short bursts and then I will take a drag on it. On my clearo's seemed like the fist bit burned. I got some of the small tips in one of my kits and they were dry as a bone and I fried two from no letting them sit a while. For the remaining tips like that I will use the condom method and let it set condom on for a while keeps the juice from dripping back out and when you pull the condom off it will draw out most of the excess.
FYI a condom from what I saw in a video is the silicone cap that comes on some of them. LOL
Looks like an vapor condom.
Letting them sit a while seems to help new or old. That and cleaning.

It is normal for a new atty to taste different at the start. I find after a day or two they break in nicely and work their best. Careful not to flood your atty. If it's too wet it won't produce as much vapor, but you can always blow a little out and vape again. And don't worry about "newbie" questions, that's what we're here for!

For attys, get a paper towel and wipe off the battery end. Blow gently with your mouth through the battery end and some primer fluid will come out the other side of the atomizer. After blowing out any primer fluid, put a few drops on and puff but don't inhale. When you start tasting juuce and not bleeck you are there.

With regards to filling cartos, if you are dripping - put drops around edge so that you avoid pouring into open hole in center. A filled carto should be like a slushy or snow cone - highly saturated w/ no bubbling or pooling. After filling, you may also gently blow out carto to ensure that center hole does not have juice. Drip juice when the carto appears dry or the taste is off.

Your sense of taste will tell you when to drip for both methods. Also check out utube methods for the "Taryn Spin" for cartos and for how to refill a carto w/ a syringe. When I used cartos, the syringe was a worthwhile $2 - made it a bit less mussy for me.

Congrats on switching! There is a learning curve to all things ecig but will keep it interesting. Stick with it - you'll never need nasty smelly cigarettes again.

Do you mean dripping one flavor and then another? If yes, then they will overlap. Even if you blow out the atty in-between, there will still be some taste left. For me, I either stick with one flavor for awhile, or use flavors that I think go together, like pineapple, then coconut, then pina colada...

Yeah,exactly.
So the logical next question is: Do you have an assortment of attys which you sort of catalog as flavor compatible?

That's really personal taste - or lack of it lol! I smoked for 40 years, so my taste buds are pretty trashed. I'm hoping they will get better, but at this point I really don't taste much of anything, except cinnamon and menthol. I do keep different flavors in Stardusts and try different ones each day, forcing myself to concentrate on tasting something, then at night I go back to my vivi mini nova filled with my beloved RH Candy Cane. It's a sweet cinnamon, menthol and perhaps other things I can't taste (!!!), but I'm glad I found it. I don't like cinnamon candy, so I was surprised I liked it in a vape. You never know.

ETA: Oops - to answer your question, I do have a "colada," a "creamy whatever," "fruit," "mint," etc.

Yeah, that's pretty much what you do with attys. But sooner or later the flavor overlap just isn't a good thing and cleaning is required.

With the cartridges you can just pull the filler out and rinse it through hot water to clean. (When rinsing I put the filler in a very small strainer to keep it from getting away from you.) And you can give the cart a quick rinse out too. If you want to clean a cart thoroughly take a straightened paper clip and pop off the cap on the mouth piece end.

For basic atty cleaning, to get most of the old flavor out, try putting it in simmering water for about 5 minutes. Use some forceps to manipulate it and move it around in the water. Once cool blow out any excess water - same as you did for the primer - and allow it to dry overnight. Then add a few drops of liquid as you did before and give it a couple minutes to saturate the wick.

Filling carts? Prefilled carts should be good to go. You want the filler to be soggy looking, but not so wet that liquid could actually drip out of it. That's too much. Some times it helps to use a straightened paper clip to manipulate the filler around to get even distribution of the liquid into the filler.

This is all about atty and cart usage. Cartomizers are a whole different animal.
