I just started using this e-cigarette because I am down to one or two cigarettes per day and it is time to quit. At first I was seriously contemplating returning it because I got big clouds of vapor but not the satisfying feeling in my lungs. I read up on some forums and tried dripping into the atomizer as opposed to the cartridges(which are messy, and kind of unsettling to begin with.) Immediately I prefer the dripping method as the taste is stronger and more satisfying but I still feel I am not getting the hang of it.
I also feel uncomfortable with the dripping because of the possibility of mold growing and that I know very little about e-cigarettes in general. Any tips?

More about propylene glycol and mold...
Dow Answer Center

From the link above said:
In animal feeds, one of the benefits of using PG USP/EP is as a natural antimicrobial against a wide range of bacterial and fungal species – mold growth is inhibited in most feed when propylene glycol is added at concentrations of 10-15 percent (w/w), while lower concentrations ...... the growth (see table below). It also serves as a preservative with excellent humectancy and mold inhibition characteristics.

Welcome to ECF. My first tip would be to read through all of the stickies on the New Members Forum. There are some good videos in there too: http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...-videos-newbies-particular-broke-newbies.html

Don't worry about mold growing, as long as you clean it with either isopropyl alcohol (91%) or pure grain alcohol. Since you got your kit at Totally Wicked, I think most of their juice is propylene glycol which has antibacterial properties. You'll get the hang of it soon. It's a little different, in method, than smoking, but much different health wise.

Don't hesitate to come with more questions when you have them!

Well it was a gift, so I know a lot less about it than I would have if I'd ordered it myself.. I'm using the e-juice supplied with the e-cig, 'Pillbox 38' and Marlbury flavour concentrate. It does contain propylene glycol, so that's good, but the only reason I'm sketching about the mold factor is because of other forums and people emphasizing on the possibility of it growing. I'm not one to let it sit without cleaning but is it to be done weekly?
Thank you guys!

Don't know about the possibility of mold growing, but there is one good way to combat it. Have at least 2 atomizers and some rubbing alcohol. Use one while cleaning the other. All that you need to do to clean the attys is let it soak in rubbing alcohol for a bit, stirring it around good a couple of times, then pull it out and repeatedly let the alcohol flow through it until it flows freely. Once that is accomplished, blow out the atty (I use canned air for this) and let air dry at least overnight.

Weekly is good for cleaning. It all depends on how much you use them really. I started off weekly, but now hit 'em every couple days. I am mainly doing that because I've gotten a lot of flavors, and some don't go away very easily.
