Great pic's
Can you tell me what voltage that circuit runs on. It has a voltage regulator on it . Can it be run on 3.7 batt without the regulator or is it voltage requirements higher. thanks
Dan

Here is one I did with the regulator LOL:

And one with out:

And here is a pic of it working using a FET switch:

Hope this helps,
Dan

Is it stable or sensitive ,. Have you had any problems with it turning on too easy . shutting it off anything like that ?

I have had no problems with over sensitivity, the problem I had, as with others is your fingers MUST have some moisture to them for this to work optimumly. Coins or keys will activate the device if the touch leads are shorted this way. I always recommend a main on/off switch when putting it in your pocket of bag for this very reason.

Hey guys!

Just want to add that this mosfet that Scubabatdan proposed is a good one and can be used without issues.
Also cheap and with great specs. Will serve you well for a long time.

I suggest making the 4.7Mohm resistor into a 50Mohm one. It will improve on sensitivity allowing dry hands to operate it.

As it is a purely resistive touch switch, it will work great as proposed with moist hands but if you have dry skin then increasing that resistor to 50Mohm or even 100Mohm will improve on reliability.

Yes on the second pic, here is the MOSFET switch for 1.00:
Digi-Key - IRF8736TRPBFCT-ND (Manufacturer - IRF8736TRPBF)

That makes sense, Thanks!

Appreciate the info Caesar, Dan and Willy...now I just have to get a good mod made to be worthy of a nice switch.

Caesar...glad to see things working out well for you.

The real shame here is members like Sr_Lawence who come begging for touch switch ideas. Gracious members like Scubabatdan and cybervex pitch in with ideas and parts lists. Scubabatdan designs schematics and PCB layouts. Not once did Sr_Lawrence contribute or add any insight or try to give back to the community. He just disappears and later shows up selling his over-priced Home Depot sourced mod.

Contrast that to member Nuck and his variable volt creation, Fist Packs by Nuck.

A highly regarded MOD that has gone through various revisions (and many testers) before being offered for sale. If the price seems high he has provided one of the most complete and detailed guides I've ever seen to build your own.

Cisco too with his Lazer pointer MOD and excellent guide.

A Google search will also find forums where Nuck answers questions and gives further tips and insight.

Yes ,. Wish I could give back what I've already gotten here . Heck I came to this forum looking for a way to stay off smokes because the first e-cig I bought had too little of a battery. I made the first mod a 6 volt screwdriver . By Maddog it made the difference, learned to mix my own juice high nic then lower. Seems like yesterday lol, went to a top feeder to get more vap. Got tired of buying lots of atomizers lowered voltage with a bottom feeder, got more flavor . I still vap at 6 volts but mostly at 3.7 volts . Now it seems I want to build units that last longer work better than ever . But I make mods for friends new to it ,. Makes me feel good helping others around me that want to quit smoking . Kind of my way of breaking even from what I learn on our site . Oh its lots of fun building new units and using them .I would hate to think that everything I gotten here wasn't open for sharing someway. But like you I have seen some do just that .

Same thing as your fingers but probably better since there is a higher moisture factor.
Dan

I wonder if it would be like licking a 9v to see if it has a charge?:)
What program(s) are you using for your schematics & layouts? They look really good.
I'm going to order a couple of those MOSFETs this weekend & see if I can build one that works right.

I'm sorry you feel this way. If you go back to the thread about touch switches, I contributed as much as I possibly could. I put on drawings, and posted schematics I came up with as well. During that time period, I asked some members who had touch switch mods for sale for their help and insight, and I was told it was "proprietary" and could not be shared with me. I was also told that if I had ordered one, that I was wasting my time since they were sealed in epoxy.

When I was making mods with push button switches, I shared everything with everyone... going to the extent of making 2 YouTube videos about how to "exactly" make these mods.

After I got an overwhelming response to my "Home Depot" mods, asking for me to sell them, I was told I needed to be a registered supplier. So, I went through that whole process. Then I was told about the new safety features that needed to be on mods that were sold through this forum. So, I decided to change my whole way of thinking. I took a mod that people told me they liked and recreated it. I put many more safety designs into it than was asked for by the forum. I went and employed people who helped me design a completely new and improved touch switch, one that wouldn't go off in your pocket... one that wouldn't go off if the button gets wet.

I have "held the hands" of people wanting to build a regulated mod by emailing all my my info to them. I think I have done my share for the forum, and still am giving back by offering reduced price mini contests, and give away contests. I still spend a great part of my day sharing my thoughts and ideas to people who email me online.

Now, if you don't like my "Home Depot" mod, that's fine... I never asked for you to buy one. I never expected The Saber Touch to take off like it did. I only wanted to make a safer mod that you didn't have to replace a switch all the time like I was doing with some of the commercially made mods that I had purchased.

The drawings on this post are the ones that I had to start with as well, realizing that they would not work for my application. So, I needed to redesign it from the start.

So, please don't put me down for making a couple of dollars on a design that is totally mine and took months to work on with pros that are in the business of electrical design. When I had asked the other suppliers for their help, I was downright refused. But now I'm being put down for something that I had created from scratch. I still offer as much help as I can to modders that ask for my help. But, I still don't see the suppliers that sell their mods with touch switches posting there exact schematics for which they sell. The only reason I haven't contributed to this thread is that it is just a repeat of the thread I started months ago.

I'm sorry for the tone of this post, but it does make me really upset to think that some members feel that I have not contributed my thoughts and ideas to the members, even after all the posts I've made, instructional videos I've put out there showing exactly how to build regulated mods. I just don't get it.

Sorry if I have offended anyone.

Dan you post multiple pics of your MODs, you take novel approaches, you answer questions, provide feedback, you offer to help.

You're one of the good guys. :thumb:

Am I missing something here? Or did you promptly delete both those videos.

And whether or not the switch design was completely yours, the point is folks here were willing to share, willing to try to help you. Answering your questions, making adjustments. I guess because their time was freely given it had no worth.
