Ethyl maltol is more of a mellowing agent than a sweetener. It does add a slight hint of sweetness, but certainly isn't sweet to me at 2.5% which is what I use it at. It can help blend flavors and seems to make the "play well together". Sweetener is just that, a sweetener. Another additive, non flavor related is "Smooth" which can actually change the entire flavor profile. Others have used white vinegar and even 4% saline solution, both of which can "meld" flavors and "brighten" them. I also have to ask if you are steeping the liquids, either a traditional time steep or heat-assisted steep?

So there will be no difference between em and smooth except for the extra sweetness of em? Im planning to buy em and smooth to try, it would be practical to buy the em instead of smooth since im into dairy flavors?

Sitting down, facing forward.
The actions of EM and Smooth are different, maybe just in degree versus percentage. I haven't played with Smooth very much, but it did change the flavor profile, completely, of the test batch I made using it at 2.5%. EM, at 2.5%, doesn't change that flavor profile as much or in the same ways. They do have different flavor effects, markedly different.

There is a SUBSTANTIAL difference between EM and "Smooth". I have confirmed with TFA/TPA (Linda) that "Smooth" works like FA's Magic Mask/MTA Vape Wizard...it is NOT a "flavor"!

Smooth does not alter the taste of e-juices like a normal/typical flavor; it alters flavoring by ALTERING YOUR TASTE BUDS/RECEPTORS!

Of course, this "alteration" is allegedly temporary, and deemed "safe" (for ingestion) by authorities; similar chemicals are being used legally in 'processed foods' and restaurants. I've not been able to find information on inhalation safety (obviously, the chemicals are "a proprietary secret") - kinda like the tobacco industry.

To each his own (for sure & for certain), but I didn't quit smoking to start inhaling a different assortment of chemical koolaids for enhancing flavor. To me, when it comes to flavorings, less is better...and when it comes to chemical cocktails that actually alter how my taste buds/receptors work (having no idea how/if they will alter my lungs and what they do in my bloodstream - or what they even are), none is best.

Vape ON!

Sometimes Linda at TFA updates the site with newer stronger flavors, hence the "Extra" ones, and it says this on their descriptions usually too. Sometimes the old regular strength is left on the site, and sometimes it's not, and there has been times where I've personally seen both of a few flavors there at once too. Sometimes WL has both, sometimes TFA does, other times they'll either only have one or the other.

Same applies with other places selling TFA, so I think it all just depends on what TFA has in in stock at the time vendors order, what she has in stock personally, and what she's had time to update or not on the main site.

It's not just coconut with the two versions, I've seen and have Blueberry Extra, Coconut Extra, Brown Sugar Extra, and I believe I've seen a few others on the site in the past too but I can't think of which right now.

Thanks for the insight. So is Blueberry Extra a stronger Blueberry Wild? I usually mix 50/50. I used the Wild @15% and it's still lacking flavor on an RDA with 70pg/30vg. I'm getting a faint taste on exhale. This flavor smells awesome but seems super weeeak.
I need to play more as I have Blueberry Extra, Wild, and Candy (PG)all from WL.

Ok I am ignorant Where do you get "FA"

I'm totally new to DIY, but I am patiently waiting for my first DIY lab equipment and chemicals to arrive at any minute. I've read through all 42 pages of this thread, and I have some proposals to make for your review before I make them, I hope. Not being too familiar with flavoring percentages, I'm trying to stick close to 10%, though I've noticed lots of the recipes in this thread calling for a total of 15-20%. All of the flavorings that I got are TFA except for FA Custard.

Creamy Banana & Strawberry Cream
3% Banana Cream
3% Strawberries & Cream
2% FA Custard
1% Whipped Cream

Banana Custard
5% FA Custard
3% Banana Cream
1% Cinnamon Sugar Cookie

Orange Dream
5% Orange Cream
2% Whipped Cream
1% FA Custard

Creamy Banana Doodle
5% Cinnamon Sugar Cookie
3% Banana Cream
1% FA Custard

Are these ratios looking fair enough for a trial or are there glaring errors? I'm making a lot of guesses here, but I'm hoping that what I've absorbed in this thread is, at the very least, making my guesses somewhat educated ones! Thoughts, concerns, advice, etc...?

Good practice!

I too only use TFA 99% of the time!

I have not been able to find a Pralines and Cream recipe using TFA so will try Capella' pre mix...

I have been considering using Faerie's Finest for my fruit flavors as they are 100% natural extracts for most of their fruit flavors, which would tend to make the vape a bit more true to form on fruit flavors..I would think...

Just my :2c: worth

Coconut is the only one I have, it can be overpowering so I have not tried the extra, and not sure how coconut candy would be different, so I have not tried it yet. All my flavors are TFA with the exception of a few from Capella's. I am trying to stick with mainly TFA so I know for future reference what I am using. I keep index cards on each recipe, and each adjustment, but since so many people recommended those two I have not bought anything else.

If im going to make a 1 flavor for 20% and eventually decided to create another bottle with EM or menthol or any flavor "good for mixing", do i have to less the 20% to create an overall 20%?

Ry4-20% (1st bottle)
Ry4-18% and EM-2% (2nd bottle)

Am i correct?
Yeah, if you're shooting for 20% overall flavoring and don't want to mess your ratio up. For example, I mix at 30% pretty much all the time and have the numbers fixed in my head for 120mls so if I mix anything under 30%, I just fill the rest of the 30% with PG.

I've tried getting in touch with them, but it's been nearly 2 weeks and I've not heard anything back from them. I was asking about what's in their flavors, specifically if they contained oils or other additives. I guess they aren't interested in dealing with me.

Thanks! Another question. If im going to combine lets say 2 flavors that says both on 15% suggested percentage,am i going to be on 7.5 for the 1st flavor and another 7.5%?

If both flavors are recommended at 15%, then you will add 15% of flavor A and then 15% of flavor B, for a total flavoring of 30%.
