no, i think it's a matter of safety. I'm pretty sure i've seen big warnings about leaving protected batteries unattended. Even, if it has an automatic shut off, i think things can always run the risk of not working the way you expect it too. There are quite a few posts on ecf that warn about really respecting these batteries. I'll try and find a link for ya...
