I spoke recently to Rob about doing a run of Tumbled Raw Aluminum Annodized recently and he seemed almost ready. His biggest concern was selling enough of them to make it worth the aggravation and expense. I'm ready for a TRA and clean hands and no oxidation, are you? I will lead it off...

I picked up this one that looks to be silver anodized and the silver is so light the TRA shows through(although the camera doesn't pick it up).

Most people want something that's already painted. That's just natural.

However, I definitely favor keeping TRA available, and in stock. Some folks just like the TRA look and feel. Some folks want TRA to do custom art work and paint design on. Hard work; Paint fumes; Clear Coating, and Love... just brings us closer to our beloved Reo. :firefox:

There were some silver anodized where the anodizing was so thin the tumble marks were visible.

Robert always tumbles before they are anodized. So even the REO's with powder coat finishes are first tumbled.

He was offering TRA with clearcoat for awhile. It gave a different feel and a little protection.

I have an older VV that I got from the classies. This one just came back from the "spa" where it had a sex change operation and is now a mechanical LP.

This is the tumbled clear coat Karen refers to. The finish is really nice and feels good in the hand. The clear coat makes the grain pop and makes it more shiny. And no black hands!

I think anodized is a good choice for durability on the finish, but also think maybe 4-5 coats of say a Rustoleum clear coat would offer something very close... I clear coated one of the circle doors and is holding up quite well so far considering the dirty environment I vape in usually... Still looks and feels great...

So are we talking about a clear anodized Reo?

I'm planning to buy another Reo grand in a couple months time. I was planning to get a TRA LP/SL but I would definitely be interested in a clear anodized LP/SL model.

I have a couple machined aluminum pens that are clear anodized and I think it's a great finish. Looks and feels exactly like raw aluminum but doesn't oxidize, plus if/when it does get scratched you can hardly tell.

I've had my TRA for 4 months now and haven't had any problems with black on my hands. I use it everyday at work and at home. I've heard about not using dish soap on raw aluminum as this will cause oxidation. I just use hot water and wipe it off and it's just fine.

I've never used dish soap on mine either. I've just rinsed it occasionally under running hot water. I've thought about using Never Dull or Mother's Mag Polish on it; but so far I haven't.
