Hi guys. I've been vaping this TRA SL Reo almost non-stop for like 5 months and I noticed it's starting to develop some dark blackish corrosion type thing right where I always put my finger tips when I hold it. I think maybe the oils on my fingers are causing it. I wipe the Reo regularly with a damp cloth and once in a while I give a full bath in the sink.

What can I clean it off with that won't polish off the tumbled finish?

I tried toothpaste but that didn't help.

Thanks!

Autosol - great stuff, I use it on all metal from my BMW wheels, to bicycle parts, engine parts, and my TRA REO.
Expensive but worth it. Great stuff, wipe on set for less than a minute, wipe off, will take the black right off, non abrasive but I recommend using glove as the black coming off your REO gets on your fingers and need to scrub to get off.Tee shirts as a cloth work great.

I like that it's not abrasive, I might give this a shot as well.

Would you recommend this if you weren't looking to polish, but keep the TR finish? I've used it in the past on rims but always buffed until it shined.

When I use it on my wheels I let it sit longer until it hazed over then polished just like a car wax. With my TRA I just wipe it on an the black comes off immediately on contact then wipe it right off and not let it set to a haze. Cleans the TRA but not abrasive. Still has the TR finish intact. I don't like shiny as it shows finger prints etc. that's why I like the TR finish.

Papa- just saw the Cape Cod cloths on Amazon on sale - 2 4x6 cloths in foiled reusable pouch for $6.00. That's a pretty good deal. I may just have to give them a try to compare, plus they say it's great for fine jewelry & watches. I guess if it's good enough for a Rolex it's good enough for a REO! :)

I just ordered one as well. I've got some watches and pocket knives that can always use a polish as well so I think it will come in handy.

I think you got that backwards Rudy.

Thanks for the tip for my golf clubs! :toast:

Thanks for the pro-tip, rudy. I've still got some in the garage - I'll give it a go next time I clean it.

As I mentioned the only drawback I found with the Autosol when used is that the black stuff is a b---h to get of your hands!
That's why I am curious about the Cape Cod cloth - wipe and done I assume.

Do you Autosol users think that it would clean up a tarnished copper vein? I was late to the clear coat on mine, it lost some of its luster before I read the thread on copper.

Word on the street is that, sadly, once a CV has tarnished, there's no known way to bring it back.
