Trident Clone,WHY?

Just did my first build on this rda and it sucks so far,i did a 28 ga K wrap @ 1.5 ohms single coil with organic cotton and the taste is very muted oand no TH.Before i installed the cotton the coil fired up fast and red hot.I get better flavour and TH from SS cable.Should i wrap at sub ohms like .70 for better results?I seen Rip Trippers vape the Trident % 1.8 ohms and he was blowing clouds,seems weird that i cant at 1.5.Before i rip this 1.5 ohm down,any suggestions?

What do you have your airflow set at? You'll need almost minimal airflow for a coil around that resistance on a mechanical. I don't watch reviews, but does he use a mechanical?...I guess I should ask if you're using a mechanical?

check your coil placement in relation to the air hole. your coil is probably too low. a coil higher than the hole will produce more TH.

ive only seen 2 rip tripper videos, but in both he was using a DNA chip box mod and not a mech. he was vaping around 15-20W IIRC.
so to answer your question, (if youre using a mech), drop your coil resistance under an ohm. and id use a large air hole, but thats just me (or you, if you want bigger clouds).

UPDATE:

Just did a 1.0 omh wrap and its better in the vapour production,still not getting the awesome flavour or TH everyone talks about.Im using it on my Private V2.Im not chasing clouds,i get more than than i want from the SScable,i was lookn for improvement in taste,still tastes muted and no TH...ill try a .6 wrap.The SS cable tastes way better.Seems like the drippers are for throath hitting,im a mouth hitter.Looks like someone is going to get a Trident as a gift,me dont like it.My best set up is the Kracken on the Poldiac with a single coil with a .70 ohm wrap with SS cable,im happy with that.Also i love the RSST with same build on the Vela.

UPDATE:
Just did a .7 ohm micro coil and now its too hot,cotton cant keep up,dripping is not for me,too messy anyway and i can ''taste'' the cotton,different strokes for different folks i guess.

Doesn't make sense.. I use 0.7ohms in all my kayfuns with cotton.. Are you using the right amount? I suggest not tearing pieces off and use scissors for better consistency.

Post a picture of your build, saturated..front of coil, and the side of it to see how cotton is in coil.

LOL...i think i found the problem,when i got down and dirty too take a close up pic,i noticed the cotton wick had srunk and was too loose and wasnt ''filling'' the coil up,i just did a bigger cotton and a tad firmer,now its going a lot better,will post pics in a few mins.Now starting too get TH nd flavour is coming tru,i guess coil building with cotton and micro coils is and art form as some say,takes a few trys,ill get her right.The Private and the Trident sure do look great together.

^Glad to hear..just be mindful that cotton needs to be against the whole coil, without being too tight. You need to be able to pull it back and forth with just the slightest resistance when it's dry. With higher VG, you may want to use just a hair width less.

I am getting more TH with the SS cable and im always use 100% VG @ 12 MG...but with the cotton less TH...am i getting more TH from the cable because of the steel ''burning'' or is it maybe because of the better way SS cable works....one to figure out later.

UPDATE:
Its working not bad now,i find i get decent TH when i use the smaller''mouth hit'' hole,i am finding a bigger hole makes for a milder TH but more vapour,now i see why the lung hitters blow massive clouds,it dont bother thoaths as much.YAY...this Trident clone is working pretty good now,taste is coming tru now with the TH...not too bad.

Is this normal,see the way the posts sit on the plastic center isolator,there are gaps between the deck and the posts.

No...keep an eye on it.. check it whenever you can with an ohmmeter..make sure your pin(+) doesn't end up getting pushed up against the body(-). It almost looks like it is just a washer from picture, but that would still make me nervous.

I checked and the post dont hit the top cap or the drip tip,still tho it dont look right,FT seems to be getting worse.They have good products but you have too fix everything.

Check it with a meter periodically.. I would be too sketched out to use it though. Pay attention to how positive post screws down and if it moves pin at all.

I checked the ohms with my Vamo and its ok,the coils glow good,now im turned off with the RDA thing,im happy with my SS cable.

Update:


....i just took my calipers and measured the distance the drip tip goes down inside the top and the drip tip just sits 1/64 of an inch above the positive screw head,its not touching.

The distance from the inside of the drip tip to the end is .240/inch.



The distance of the top cap to the screw head is .260/inch.
This means a difference of .020/inch.Not much clearance,just over a 1/64 of an inch.Too close for comfort.

I also trapped a piece of wire in the screw to simulate it for real fitting,so it seems all is safe,i was worried at first.

The gap you see at the end of the calipers near the bottom of the drip tip is the actual distance from the top of the positive too the end of the drip tip when its in the RDA.I could sand down the end of the tip if need be.

I found that if I use either twisted pair 28g or ribbon wire in the trident, I get much more flavor and TH than with a standard micro coil. The ribbon gives more TH and flavor than the twisted pair.

In the Trident, I had to drill a larger hole in the center post to do these builds.

If you're up for it, try it out.

Ive had had a few more bad products from FT,a mouse with jumpy scroll wheel,nose clippers that wont work,i have 2 other mice i got and thay dont work too good either,click buttons are too stiff,im lucky my Kraken and Poldiac was ok,its a gamble.Also a pair of bike grips were a waste of money and the iatty RBA,,,garbage.

You bet,everything ive got from FT i had too ''fix''...only thing i didn not was a hat.I got some replacement tubes for the Private and i even had too buff the treadsmtoo big,sometimes i think they do this on purpose,just to drive us mad.
