So my christmas/birthday present to myself was an Nzonic and Trident both here

The EHPro Nzonic

The Trident RDA

Now the Nzonic is working flawlessly and im in love with it. This is my first coil building experience and so far its been a quite awful one. First off the middle post on my Trident is striped or something. i can push the screw down past the slit the wire goes through for it starts to catch and screw on. idk if this is known problem or not but if there's a fix id love to know. second i have a coil built at 1.76. heres what it looks like

i have it on my Nzonic and the coil takes a good 2.5-3 seconds to heat up. is this cus of my wonky noob coil or could there be another reason? im using 29g kanthal. Even after it gets good and heated up its not producing much of anything. im using cotton balls as the wick.

Any and all help is immensely appreciated!

It's kind of hard to tell from the pic but it looks like the coil is too low, may even be touching the deck slightly.

I don't know anything about the Trident but I thought the coil should be attached to the two outside screws and the middle screw was just to hold everything together. I could be wrong though. Things change so fast in the rba world.

The issue with the center, positive, screw post not grabbing is going to be a real problem for you in setting up this Trident clone. I would have a good look at the threads on the screw. If they are damaged that's the issue. If they are good, try the nut on one of the outer screws. If that works right look at the slot in the center screw. Is the slot smaller at the top than at the bottom? If so you could attempt inserting a small screwdriver into the slot and gently, slowly, pry the top of the screw apart until the slot is parallel. If the nut does not work on the outer screws, then it's probably a stripped nut and you could try to find a replacement nut from someplace like Home Depot. You definitely need to get this issue fixed though or you will not be able to get good contact on the wire(s) in that center post. For anything that is damaged, you could also obviously get in touch with the supplier and ask for an exchange.

Once you get that taken care of, I suggest you try a micro coil with cotton wick. Super_X_drifter has a couple of great tutorial videos on these builds here and here. Here is what mine looks like with a dirty dual coil build in my Trident clone:

Your coil should be close to the outside of the RDA, but it must not touch the cap or it will short. Beware, the inside of the cap is smaller than you may think because of the air flow control sleeve on the outside of the cap. Have a look at it and you'll see what I mean. You want the air hole aligned with the coil. Use a single air hole for a single coil.

And don't lower your coil resistance unless you know the battery can handle the increased amp draw that will cause.

Best of luck with it :thumb:
