I had some time on my hands, and 3 foot of 32ga Kanthal I didn't know what to do with, so I got out the screwgun and twisted up some Clapton wire. It was a pain in the patoot, as I'm sure everybody already knows, but actually easier than I thought it would be. I wrapped the 32 around a piece of 28, which is my standard round wire to build single wire coils. I wanted to get it down in the .5 range, and when I got it on the atty (Svoemesto/Kayfun v4 clone, single coil build) it metered .47. The calculator tells me that runs 8.93A at 37.5W with a full charge 4.2V batt, which is probably a tad hotter than I want to be. The vape is a bit hotter than I like but good production and the Clapton coils have unmuted the flavor some. It drinks juice at that low resistance, as everybody says. I think my next build will be up in the 5.5-6 Ohm range; I believe that will smooth it out a bit. I'm not all that used to single coil builds-- I prefer dual coil Foggers-- but the local shop had this clone atty in the dump pile at $15, and I couldn't pass it up. I could only get 2 full wraps on a 2mm bit before I got to the resistance I was hunting. I think I will order some 20ga Kanthal and give that a shot too. If I used the same wire I have in a dual coil setup, I could get 4 wraps each on two coils. I might like that better.

I also did some quad-twist 32ga Kanthal while I had the drill out and a piece of the wire left. That will wait to try until my Lemo gets here by Vape Mail. And I have this idea for a Clapton wire winder I may cobble together...
