Hi to everybody. I just joined and hope I share useful info with you guys.I understand somebody asked this question and I checked it but I have same issue with 2 different tanks. As somebody mentioned, I may have tightened the coil too tight but I don't remember since that was my first time trying to vape. I do everything else as instructed and asked Halo the same question but it has become way too frustrating. Even with new coil, the problem persists.
Should I just get a new tank? Or should I upgrade to Tracer or Reactor? From I can tell, these two have different coil configuration from Triton so I should ask if these two do not have this kind of issue as Triton's? I've been so frustrated that I am considering changing brand. But I wanted to ask the experts here before I put the blame on the product. Thanks.

Welcome. :)

You are talking about Halo Triton tanks, aren't you. (Triton means something different to many of us).

The Triton tank is an old piece of e-cig tech. Should you upgrade further with this 'brand'? I wouldn't recommend this, no.

There are very few secrets in the e-cig world. There are almost no unique products.
Triton wasn't a bad tank in it's day (3 years ago  ), in fact many of us used it (from other sources at a cheaper price) without much complaint, but things move on.

Personally, I do not approve of certain products being re-branded and sold 'forward' at a $$ premium. For that reason, Halo are only a little better than many other brands.

In reality, most us don't use 'brands' at all. We buy the 'original' device or tank from an independent vendor. Why? Because it's easy to pay $59.99 for a $19.99 tank from a 'brand' that has created it's own identity on the internet with dubious reviews, fake review sites and commission sales.

I wouldn't say Halo do this - I like Halo, they are a good brand, especially for e-liquid, but this is how many of the 'other' big boys do their business.

Hi @snuvet75 and welcome to the forum. I'll start with the upgrades... The Reactor looks exactly like an iStick 50 watt mod found here: Eleaf iSmoka iStick 50W 4400mAh 0.2ohm Mod for $35. Aspire, Eleaf, Kanger, Uwell Crown and others make tanks to fit this. Any tank with a 510 connection will work.

The Tracer looks very similar to this one : Kanger SUBVOD Mega TC Starter Kit for $38.

When I looked at the pics for the tank you mentioned the Triton, what I saw was OLD technology. I'd suggest an upgrade. an iStick 30 watt or better with an Aspire Nautilus Mini would be a nice start.

There are dozens of reputable brands to shop from. Look at "starter kits". If you have any queations about any of the choices just repost and someone will be along to discuss it's pro's and cons.

I've used these U.S. vendors (usually 4 days order to delivery):

Hey guys. With many thanks to you all, I ordered iStick 30w and Nautilus combo from Mt Baker website. I wanted to get 50w capacity but wasn't sure how bulky it is as I wanted something more compact coming from Halo Triton. Ppl say 30w lasts at least a day or two and that is more than enough for me. Current Triton battery is 1300mAh and it lasts for a day so I guess with 2200mAh capacity I would be good.
One question regarding the atomizer is that the product description recommends changing it every 10 days. Is it true? That sounds a lot. Thanks!

This is exactly what I have and I'm very pleased with the combo! I think you will be too. How long the battery lasts depends on the watts you run it on, how often you use it, and maybe some other factors as well. I have two sets I switch between throughout the day, and the third one I only use in the morning. The two that I use throughout the day will last about 1.5 days, although I plug them in every day. My morning-only vape I use for about 1/2 - 1 hour a day and I only plug it in every 3 days or so.

Yes, the atomizer will need to be changed on a regular basis. 10-20 days seems about right, but again, it depends on the juice you use, the amount you vape, and other things. I change mine out about every 2 weeks, but then I tend to use sweet juices, which will clog up the coils fast. If the cost becomes a burden, you can look into making your own coils, but you'll need a different tank for that.

Welcome, and enjoy your new vapes!

Thanks Janie. I won't go make my own. I don't think I have time for that LOL. Cost is not an issue considering how much more expensive cigarettes are. I'll stick with what I have now and explore more. I'm sure I will order more batteries once I get comfortable with it.

You have a really nice start. I have 2 of the 50 watts and they are probably the most comfortable mods I own. As you can see in the pic below I used the Nautilus on them a lot. :)
My%20Vape%202%20007_zpst1e620rm.jpg

The quality of vape from where you were to where you will be is a very nice step UP. Keep a rubber band handy. Sometimes the Nautilus will draw a great vacuum after use and it can be difficult to unscrew. Wrap a rubber band around the bottom (or glass) and it works like a kitchen rubber grabber for jars.

Prime the new coil with a drop or two down the chimney (open part after the coil is screwed into the bottom of the tank base)and a drop on the sides where the cotton wick is exposed. Fill tank and assemble unit. Take a few UNPOWERED draws (I covered the airholes to get better suction of juice into the wick) and let it sit for a few minutes to try and naturally draw juice into the wick. Start low power and take a draw. Bump it up a watt or two and repeat. If it gets to hot, tastes funny or starts to taste burnt, BACK DOWN the power.

If I recall correctly I was using the 1.8 ohm coils at 10 to 12 watts, so you'll be safe to start at 8 and work up to find your sweet spot. Different flavors bakery/fruit/tobacco/creams will have different sweet spots and you'll just have to experiment a little.

10 days out of a coil sounds about right, but depends on juice and how often you vaped.

Congrats.

You made me laugh, I'm no collector as most of the gear in the pic is inexpensive. (The Nautilus was my first great tank, and iStick my first mod). But it did get me off the cigs so I am thankful for it. I'm still on amateur status as to collections. Some of the pics the experts on here have are amazing to see. I took that picture when I got my first mods to show my journey (and it helps others see what steps we recommend others to skip or try).

My advanced beginnings...
