Congrats on pulling the trigger on the VV! The only advise I can give (and I didn't read all the threads cuz I'm impatient, so sorry if it was already mentioned) is don't expect a HUGE difference in flavor off the bat. I think my expectations were super high and BigBen and SeniorBoy had to explain to me the whole VV thing and finding the sweet spot.

It took a couple of weeks of playing around with it, various juices and taking my time slowly adjusting the volts and all of sudden I did taste the difference and got the full experience of it all.

Now it's very hard for me to use my reg Triton batts and I can totally taste the difference between reg batts and my VVs.

Enjoy and keep us posted on how things go for you.

The fact that the VV stays at a guaranteed constant voltage from fresh charge to flashing dead light was the selling point to me. It takes the guesswork out of what flavor is optimal on a fresh charge, somewhere in the middle, or less voltage at the end of a charge on a standard Triton. So worth the $10-$14 premium over a standard Triton.

...
A VV consumes 30% more power, so it's a "think it over" kinda thing. My 1'300 mAh VV lasts as long as my 900 regular Triton.

A Triton battery puts out 3.7 - 3.8v, except for the first and last 5 puffs, so using a VV at 3.8 is kinda silly. :p

I only use the standard coils (2.2 - 2.4). I'd only use the recommended 3.2 if I wanted a colder vape.

There are some flavors I'm trying to cool off, so that sounds like a good recipe to me!

Using a VV @3.8 volts is silly? Really?! Do you even own a VV?!

Your 1300mAh VV, huh? Funny, they only come in 900mAh.

30% battery decrease? Really? You have a volt meter?

The first and last 5 puffs being the only difference.... really? That's interesting. :?:

The regular Triton starts at a higher voltage before gradually dropping to 3.8, and drops further at the end of a charge. Far more than 5 puffs on each end. Makes sense that a VV 900mAh @3.8 CONSTANTLY would average out to a 1300mAh Triton which starts high and drops low, both lasting 1 day each, depending on use. I actually own both.

Try the standard coils in a VV, then try the 3.0-3.2 coils. There is a minimal if not negligible drop in temp. Barely noticeable.

I never said I got my VV from Halo ;)

(SI makes compatible batteries, including a 1'300 mAh)

Yep, Tritons, being unregulated, start out at 4.2v, then drop to 3.7 - 3.6, until they drop again to about 3.2, which is when it signals you to recharge it. (letting it drop to 0 volts can kill the battery)

I have to agree with BigBen here on most points. The regulating circuitry in a variable volt comes at a big price, like 20 to 30% of capacity loss. I feel that my 900VV doesn't last as long as the 650.

And if you run a VV at the same voltage as most of the discharge of a regular bat's voltage, of course, there isn't much difference.

Now, what I find is I like the volts a bit higher than the regular battery gives. And sometimes a bit less. If I can, I think that was the point. I'm between 3.7 and 4.0 (hard to tell exactly, just going by the markings on the bat. I don't pull out the multi tester every time I tweek the volts.). But that little bit makes a lot of difference. And even with the same juice just hours apart, I'll like it a bit stronger or weaker. It is subtle, but that's the benefit of VV. In my opinion.

(by the way, cool graph. A pic = a lot of words)

I don't know all the technical crap, I just use my VV to what I like and taste preference per juice and my mood. I use the volts lower in the morning (I don't know why but prefer it this way) and then through the day into the evening, I find I prefer it cranked up.

My "usual" sweet spot is around 4.3 with the majority of my juices. I rarely if ever go below 3.8 except trying out a new juice and doing a slow test, gradually increasing volts.

LOL +1 on what AngiBe said, Us non-tinkerers don't care how it works, just that it does. But I do like knowing how to take care of it.

I got mine! Still tinkering, but high resistance coils, and 3.2 volts make cafe mocha a very pleasant vape.

Exactly what I was trying for, too... I love the flavor, but it was so hot and burnt after a while.

Now I just need a nice carry case for the gear... Halo sent me a nice sticker when I won on the holiday thread... It looks like it would cover a generic ego case nicely.

I got a sticker to Rev! Don't know where to put it

The local vape shop has ego type cases real cheap... I really think Mr flame would look good on there... plus I'd have a cozy place for my gear and the juices I carry.

You never said you didn't get it from Halo, and being the Halo forum, perhaps you should specify. Do other vendors even call it a Variable Voltage? I'm not sure.

It's still foolish to say a VV is not worth it if you keep it at 3.8 volts, taking out the guesswork. Demanding a particular voltage is never a bad errand. Halo states 900mAh is good for 1000 puffs. Keep your charts, I will use the VV if I feel there are drastic performance benefits at a constant voltage, which I do, beyond 5 arbitrary puffs at the beginning and end of a battery charge.

Yup I still use cartos for some flavors that are just too rough in tanks. I have to cut my nic some switching to the bigger stuff but I'm of the use it all up before getting much more line of thought (grew up pretty broke and it's been drilled into my head). Every bit of stuff I've got has it's use.

Except the time I derailed by buying an ego set. On every other part of this forum its holy crap you gotta buy ego stuff cus 808 will be done with soon. I hated the stupid things and decided to stick with what I know an love.

So as much as I love ECF a lot of it can really throw off a beginner and between halo and si it couldn't be better

I know this post is a few days old, but this is exactly how I feel! I kept reading threads on vaping forums, watching YouTube videos, and buying more and more mods, different brands of tanks and clearomizers, lower ohm coil heads, etc. etc. Here I am, years later, and I thought "screw all this nonsense" and just ordered a G6 kit. I love the simplicity and quality of Halo so much that in the same week I've already ordered 3 more G6 batteries and sold my Ego Twists and Protanks... and I'm going to order a Triton kit next week. :D

I do the same thing, look at the videos and see things on different websites and start thinking I want to try something else.

But in the back of my mind I know that it will end up in a drawer and I will be using my Triton again.

As I have said before, if it ain't easy, I won't stick with it.

I think you did the right thing.

Here's a quote I found that I think says it all.

Progress is man's ability to complicate simplicity.

I get what you guys are saying! I did a LOT of research before I picked Halo...a lot! I actually quit smoking about a week and a half before I got my G6. The nic fits were insane so I thought why not try it. I tried my friends Blu years back and hated it so I research top Ecigs or best ecig or something like that. This was all before I even found ECF, which as a noob, it was good cuz I didn't get all these conflicting advise and picked what I wanted.

So then I told my friend about it and we went to a local vape shop to try Ecigs and juice and get "advise". They had Evods and she bought one on the spot!?!? I told her before we went in to just try them and if she liked them, get it from Halo but since mine wasn't here yet, we both didn't know if it would be good so she didn't want to wait.

Long story short, I did upgrade quick to the Triton and Trition VV BUT.....she HATED her EVod. It leaked all the time, hard to fill and she didn't like bottom coil. When she tried my VV, she bought it from Halo that same day. She gave her Evods away to another gf. Now she has 2 1300. Halo batts and 2 VV. Heeheeheeheeheee. I have 3 VV and 3 reg Halo batts and 2 G6

My friend told me about Halo, he was right! Started with the g6 and the Malibu. At first, I didn't like it. After a few months of seeing it sit there collecting dust I got the mini tanks. Wow! Those tanks got me hooked! After about a month and a half I pulled the trigger and got the triton. After about 2 weeks with my triton I quit stinkies!

Thanks Halo!
