Just got a m401 and Im liking it, have not been tempted to smoke an analog aside to compair side by side since I got my e-cig. The only thing is that I wish I got a 510 with manual battery instead, but oh well. Anyway, I never smoked all that much analogs, but I would usually get luxury analogs like Nat Shermans or Dunhills, and I started smoking analogs with cloves thus when I do smoke, I am used to a high amount of nicotine. I would say of the past 3 years, I have averaged 3 or 4 cigs during my sober day and when I drink I probably average 1 cig per hour just to give you guys an idea of what I am used to. Anyways here is the issue:

Im kind of confused on how full my cart is supposed to be. It is my understanding that I want to make sure the atmoizer is always in contact with the liquid, and I have been adding a few drops every once in a while, but a few things are happening that maybe signs that my carts are too full. I am getting a fine amount of smoke, but when I smoke there is some crackling as if the liquid was boiling off a bit; is that normal? On top of that, I pulled the cart off and the polyester pulled out because it appeared to be stuck to the atomizer. I set the polyester out on the table and there was a pretty good puddle of liquid that accumulated under it on the table. I would note however that I have never gotten any liquid in my mouth when smoking.

This might be a completely different issue, but I have also noticed the smoke seems to be lingering longer then I thought it should after I exhale. It dies down quite a bit quickly, but faint traces of it stay around for a while, is that normal?

How am I supposed to tell how full and when to fill my cart? It is dark in there and even if it was not, it is hard to see how wet the polyester (or whatever it is) is because all you see is the top.

I have a 901 so what I say may be a little, or a lot, different for you. When I get a new cart, I actually cut just a little off the filler so it itsn't right at the edge of the cart. It is maybe about 1.16 to 1/8 of an inch below the edge. This has kept the filler from sticking to the atty and getting that nasty burnt flavor for me. When I top off, I do it just until it slightly covers the filler but it's not at the top edge of the cart. Doing it this way keeps me from getting any in my mouth and it keeps the filler from sticking to my atty and making a mess when I pull the cart off to top off.

I hope it help.s, and sorry if it doesn't.

As far as the sticking issue goes, it is usually when you run a cart too dry that that happens. The poly batting at the top, not being wet, is free to melt a bit at the contact point with the atomizer, and once the atty cools down a bit...tada...stuck. Good suggestion above, but I have noticed that some atomizers are just more prone to grabbing the cart filling than others. I have one that I use just for dripping because no matter what I do the filling sticks to it. I have others where its never happened.

while good info, not what I am looking for. Along with other comments on the info in the OP, two simple questions I am looking for answers are:

1) Should my e-cig make a sizzling noise from time to time as if the liquid was boiling. It actually really reminds me of the crackle when I used to smoke djarum blacks.

2) Is it normal that the exhale lingers for a while, noticeably (if you really look for it) but diminishes most of it's smoke-like body quickly.

Hi jaross,
When my 401 crackles, I know I am going to get a good hit. It's wet with a fresh battery. If you think it's flooded, just put on a blank cart for a few drags.

If the poly is sticking but your poly isn't dry, you might have to give it more time between draws to wick the liquid from the bottom of the cart. Mine will use all the liquid if I'm patient, or alternating devices. It seems that some juices are worse than others. Could be flavorings.

I notice the vapor hanging around longer if I use glycerine. With just PG I can exhale little or no vapor. Nice when shopping....
