This is my first full day without an analog. I've been smoking 1 or 2 analogs a day for the last week and a half or so until they ran out. Well, they ran out yesterday. I was exclusive Joye 510 today. It's 11:00pm local time, and I think I'll make it without a problem. Been smoking since I was a kid, over 30 yrs.
When I smoked cigs my habit was such that many times I would take my lighter out first, then get out a cig and light it. Now I keep pullin my lighter out and realizing I don't need it. "No, I don't need a lighter" I think to myself.
I even put my lighter away, but I still reach in my pocket to get it, now it ain't there.

I have found out that the polyester fiber batting (instead of the filling) works pretty good. By trial and error I figured out the right size piece to cut, and then I cut a bunch that size. I think the trick with the 510 is to make sure the polyester piece is sticking slightly out of the end of the cartridge. If you look down the business end of the 510 atomizer you will see a little coil in the middle. For best hit, it is critical that this coil be able to touch the polyester fiber piece (holding the ejuice) that is in the cartridge.
I can get max lifetime out of the fiber if I occasionally take it out, turn it around, and fluff it a little, put it back in, applying juice along it as I push it in. But leave a little just sticking out (so it will make good contact with the coil in the atty).

Congratulations!!

Regarding the polyfil - it can work without actual contact but whatever is working for you. Just be careful if the polyfil gets 'hooked' on the metal mesh on the bridge, not to pull the metal mesh off. You might take a look at this cart mod:

It helps with wicking and also allows more drops on refill. I'm almost on one year since I had a cig and the 510 kit is what did it for me. Good luck!

The batting has never hooked up on me. With the original carts, I noticed, after smoking a cart, that the cart had a little impression in it where it was against the coil. The coil does not get hot enough to do anything to the polyester, it just vaporizes the juice being hydrostatically held by the fiber. The closer the coil it is to the juice being vaporized, the more vapor there will be.

Hi nemesis. The thing that sticks up in your atty and makes contact with the filler material is actually a metal mesh wick. The actual coil is underneath the wick running parallel to it. The wick doesn't heat up. It keeps the polyfill from contacting the coil and helps the juice run down to the coil. Here's a link to a video that shows pretty well how the atty is put together. http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/tips-tricks/58303-removing-wick.html

Congrats on your success...

I've been off analogs for about 7 weeks now. When my DSE901 kit came in I had 2 analog cigs left in the pack that I finished, but I've not opened another pack since and have no desire to do so. I still have a full, unopened carton sitting on the shelf and as far as I'm concerned they can stay there.

As mistinthewoods pointed out that is the 'bridge' is not the coil and I highly suggest not messing with or removing the bridge or metal mesh for now or the wicking that runs through it. Good that you haven't caught the polyfil on the mesh, but just telling you it can happen and what to do if it does. And with some atomizers you may get some singeing of the poly - not often though.

It's the metal mesh in the bridge and around the base of the bridge (in Joye atomizers) that ensures that the coil beneath the bridge keeps moist. ejuice will 'sit' in the mesh. Dry attys die, so keep things wet but not flooded. You can drip 1 or 2 drops (3 tops) on regular 510 attys without flooding.
