Here is a simple 5V passthrough, 510 connector: Smok Tech 5 Volt 510 Manual USB Passthrough
The equivalent, with KR808D-1 connector: Manual Electronic Cigarette USB Passthrough

You should use a 2A USB power supply, either 120VAC or car cig lighter adapter: Electronic Cigarette Car Adapter - Charge a battery or use a USB passthrough while on the GO!

I really like using a standard cartomizer tank, it cuts down on refilling a lot. This is the one I've been using: M1A1 Buzz Tank - notcigs.com I haven't had any leak issues, a good thing. Be warned, some eliquids will cause trouble with the clear plastic tanks. I vape a simple vanilla tobacco blend, have had zero problems. With the carto tank, the 1" one is designed to use with standard length cartomizers, while the 1.5" is for XL or mega length cartomizers. (I bought the 1" tank, plus picked up a spare 1.5" tube, you can move the end caps from one tank to the other)

For cartomizers, ideally get ones that are bare stainless steel, not painted or covered with a plastic wrapper. If they are covered you need to peel the wrapper and sand off any remaining stuff, until you are down to bare steel. Some places sell them pre-punched. I like a 3 ohm cartomizer, a standard Boge is generally solid. You can use down to 2.5 ohms with a true 5V passthrough without any problem. At 3 ohms you will run a bit over 8W, while 2.5 ohms is 10Watts. A really nice 2.5 ohm cartomizer is the Ikenvape Fusion 2.5 ohm -- it is an 801 connector, so you would use a small 510/801 or 901/801 adapter (also sold at Ikenvape); the "901" is the same threading as the 808 -- you would use it if you went the v4l 808 passthrough route. Ikenvape also sells a 3 ohm XL 808 carto -- I've picked up a few of them to try with my tank, haven't gotten to it yet. The Ikenvape cartos are available in stainless steel (bare), perfect for tank use. Ikenvape is at IkenVape Store.

I use a dremel to cut a small slot in my tanks. Others punch their cartos, several methods.

With the tank and carto, you add a drip tip, it replaces the rubber tip at the mouth end of the carto, extends it a little (the tank covers almost all of the carto length). A 901 or 510 drip tip will work (same diameter as 510 or 808 cartomizer holes), such as: Vapor4Life Delrin Drip Tip for Electronic Cigarette Cartomizers Personally I like a short stainless steel drip tip, got mine from Totally Wicked on sale. Vapor4life (v4l) constantly runs sales. Check the PIF Deals and Steals thread (link to PIF in my signature) to see what sales are running at different vendors. For notcigs, "ECF Buzzkill" is their standard discount code.

A passthrough is an economical, solid, choice if you're driving a lot. For me, only in a vehicle a little bit, I ended up going with variable voltage PVs after about 8 months. I actually use notcigs Buzz Pro and Infinity PVs all the time, just have a little 808 auto battery for when I need to be hands-free.

Good luck!

I haven't had a carto fail while on a tank, doesn't mean it can't happen. I use 6 ml of eliquid on a normal day, can go up to 9. A carto normally runs about 3 - 4 days for me before I'll decide it is time to change them out. I just vape the carto until the tank is low, then do a swap -- if you hold the tank more or less horizontally, you won't lose the little bit of eliquid that is left, though we're talking a small amount, so I usually use the carto change as a time to do a quick rinse of the tank under a water faucet.

Most people would say I am a pretty heavy vaper, running 6 - 7 ml/day typical, up to 9 on a heavier vaping day.

With the 1" tank I use I start with a fresh tank, refill twice during the day.

With a 1.5" tank (I'm talking the M1A1), I'd expect to be down to 1 refill during the day, just to get me through the evening. The 1" tank actually has 3/4" of working volume, since the end caps take some space; the 1.5" tank would give me another 1/2" of working volume, 2/3 more than the 1", since the end caps take up the same amount of space.

Sorry I can't be more precise -- I can only go by my use. While I use a VV all the time, it's generally running around 4.5 - 5V, with either a 2.5 ohm or 3 ohm cartomizer, equivalent to what you would be doing with a passthrough.

my main thing is I am a truck driver so I am lazy... so I really want to order everything from one site
Forgive me for being totally off topic here, but this post has made me smile ! My hubby was a driver (retired 2 yrs ago) and you sound EXACTLY like him :) Thanks for the morning smiles !

you will want cartomizers for the tank not atomizers.. with the silver bullet you can run higher voltage with stacked batteries. cartomizers are cheaper than attys also but id grab a couple attys to taste your juice when your stopped for a lay over. it would suck to fill a cart and tank with juice you dont like.

what kindsof flavors of juice do you like?? straight up tobacco or sweet type?

I only recommend the reo, but that's all I have ever used. I have a grand and on a bad day I MAYBE go through 2 batts. I understand that you are in the chair all day but let's not underestimate what a pita it is being tethered to a plug using the pt. Reach for your coffee and get snagged on the cord... You get the idea. The reo sales dates are posted on the reo supplier forum. Just my 2 cents, hope you find what works for you with minimal trial and error!

Sent from my Apple II. What?! I keeps it old school!

Anything can and will break eventually, even a simple pass through -- eventually the button or wire will fail.

Never rely on any one device, always have a backup. If you buy, say, a SilverBullet, still get a passthrough or a simple sit-and-go device as a backup (operates as a passthrough while plugged in, though only at about 3.7V, and has a battery so you can disconnect it and move around). I'm pretty sure one-battery sit-and-go, somewhere around 650 mAh battery, run in the neighborhood of $20 these days (Electronic Cigarette - Pass-throughs - Joye eGo , use the october20 20% discount code); the sit-and-go style PT don't need a full 2A USB power supply, a cig adapter outputting anything greater than about 500 mA is fine for them.

I love tanks and I love bottom feeders, but for driving, I have to say TANKS. The Silver Bullet (or any 18650 mod) with a 2000mAh or more battery should get you through 6ml. The 2ohm Boge carto in said tank is wonderful with the 18650 3.7v battery, the smoktech 1.7ohm carto is even better. XL LR Chibi Tank Mod (XL smoktech1.7ohm) You need a needle to fill these, but it's pretty easy to do, fill two, be done for at least a day. This is how I fill mine: Chibi Tank Syringe Fill - YouTube Parkes also sells the Shine and Diamond mods, they take the 18650 battery...they are very inexpensive ($25 I think) and could be a good back up to your Bullet. Always have back up! :D

I get my cartos here: Crystal Clear Vaping and punch them myself. These only need one hole, the Boges need 2. They will send you a needle to fill the cartos with your order...you can also use it to fill your tanks. Win.

Whatever you choose as a battery power, I believe the tank is the way to go for extended driving. Effective and easy. If you go high voltage, 3ohm Boge in a tank, if you go 3.7v, the 2ohm Boge or the 1.7ohm Smoktech. Good luck and safe driving!!

    in a cave, eh?
Well, that works except for the SmokTech 1.7 ohm 801 cartomizer. An 801 has different threads and requires a 510->801 adapter. I have no experience with SmokTech's product, but my low-resistance 801 atomizer burns all my juice. A regular 801 atomizer works better at a lower voltage, i.e. 3.2 volts; i.e. not suitable for either a RoughStack Maxi or a 5-volt passthrough. I can't say if the 3rd party 801 cartomizers work anything like the DSE 801 atomizers, though. FWIW, I get the impression that Bauway's 801 cartomizers work better.

If you want to try a few LR cartomizers, MadVapes carries SmokTech 1.7 ohm cartos. I haven't tried 'em myself, but I believe these are the ones sold as "resurrectors" elsewhere that are getting great reviews.
