In my happy place
The sweeping order directs every federal agency to establish a task force to ensure each has a team to research all regulations and take aim at those deemed burdensome to the U.S. economy ...

"Every regulation should have to pass a simple test; does it make life better or safer for American workers or consumers?"

The order says agencies should seek to repeal regulations that "inhibit job creation," are "ineffective," impose costs that exceed benefits or "create a serious inconsistency or otherwise interfere with regulatory initiatives and policies."

Hopefully when they review the vapeing deeming they see that it matches the criteria for repeal.

Just curious what the Actual Mechanism is to Repeal an Established Federal Regulation?
Same here. Especially when those regulations are supposedly tied to congressional authority (The TCA). Then we'll have the judiciary weighing in and it'll be a [edited].

Perhaps Putin can fix it all for us?

As I understand it, there are 3 Ways to repeal an Established (60+ Congressional Days) Regulation.

1) Have the Issuing Agency Issue a New Regulation which Counters the Previous Regulation. Possible. But the New Regulation would need to go thru the Same 11 Step Procedure as with Any Other Regulation. Like the Deeming Did.

2) Have Congress pass Legislation which Repeals the Regulation. Not Very Likely.

3) File a Suit and get a Federal Court to Overturn the Regulation. Very Unlikely.

A Regulation could be Repealed via an Executive Order, but that Order could be Challenged in Court. Something that Trump has learned the Hard Way.

I just read an article about an outfit called Precision Health Economics. It’s a crew of academic hired guns who specialize in doing “research” for the drug industry. Mostly along the lines of studies justifying the high price of drugs in the US. I don’t think they do actual research into drug effectiveness, more like analysis of the economic situation around drugs, done by professors and doctors, and always finding in favor of the BP companies who hire them. They seem to be just a lobbying support group.

"Precision Health Economics may be well-positioned to influence the Trump administration. Tomas Philipson, an economist at the University of Chicago and the third co-founder of Precision Health Economics, reportedly served briefly as a senior healthcare adviser for the Trump transition team. He did not respond to requests for comment. Scott Gottlieb, M.D., reported to be a candidate for commissioner of the Food and Drug Administration, is a clinical assistant professor at New York University School of Medicine and a former “academic affiliate” of Precision Health Economics, according to its website."

I don’t know if Gottlieb is still in the running for FDA Commissioner. He was until recently.

We’ve talked here about the effect of money on research. There aren’t many cases where the process is this blatant. So a BP lobbyist is in line to help decide the future of vaping. Somehow I don't think Dr Gottlieb will see Deeming as a good regulation to get rid of.

I'd prefer to think he is in a perfect position to smell out where the rats are.
But all things remain to be seen at this point.

Trump likes to fire people who don't do what he wants the way he wants.
And I figure he is quite likely to never hire them in the first place.

One can hope.
