Li-ion TR-001 (any li-ion) and Maha Ni-Mh (any Ni-Mh) are completely different battery chargers.

While in Ni-Mh noise shouldn't be a problem, it is completely different story when you operate li-ion charger.

Li-ion chargers with any noise during charging should be disposed, or returned to the seller.

I don't think so. The Maha charger also charges Li-ions and NiCads. That's why it's called a "Universal" charger.
It makes a whining noise sometimes (not always) regardless of which type or capacity of battery is being charged. Since I've had it for about 10 years now and have charged every kind of battery imaginable on it without issue, except SLA and including an occasional LiPo, the results speak for themselves.

My TR001 started that high pitch squeal about two months ago. It just kept getting louder, so loud I could hear it over the washer, dryer, t.v. and central air. I couldn't stand it. Since it was a year and a half old, and I already had a new charger I tossed it. Don't care if I could've taken it apart and fixed it, it was only about $10 back when I bought it, and the springs were not as tight anymore.

I have found that a less than firm connection is often the culprit when whining noises happen to a charger. The universal charger I have relies on adjustable pins or alligator clips or dedicated plug-in type connectors. Often, when the pins aren't making good contact, the battery is still being charged, but I will hear a whine. Shifting the battery around to achieve a tighter connection usually silences it. A loose connection, as would be caused by worn springs, will cause that whine.

Probably misunderstanding.

I assumed (from the title) that this thread is about 18650 li-ion chargers - Trustfire.

Must admit I did not know that Maha have any model that can charge 18650 li-ion 3.7V cylindrical cell.

If somebody can provide a link that would be great . More knowledge is always better.

I have the Maha MH-C777 Plus II charger. I googled it to get a link, but found out it was discontinued. Too bad. There's probably a replacement that does the same thing but I was too lazy to hunt it down. Because of the variety of ways you could attach a battery, it charges flat, irregular an oddball sized batteries. For cylindrical batts, you used a pin on one end and a clip on the other, or a battery carrier, which is the preferred way for one or more cylindrical batts. I use it to charge spare batteries for a Sandisk Sansa MP3 player, which have little teeny tabs, and nearly any kind of Lithium, NiMh or Nicad. It's great for charging the 4X18650 battery pack I use on my bike light because when they're in a carrier, it charges them like a 14.8V battery pack, keeping them all balanced. You can google it to see how it's built and so forth, but if you want one, you'd probably have to find it on ebay.

I got that one too, the C9000. That's the one I just keep full of NiMh AAs. It's a really cool charger and does a lot of stuff.

Here's a pretty cool li-ion smart charger. You can also put a charged 18650 in it and charge up something else, like a eGo, with a built in 5V/500mah USB port. Pretty slick. It'll do 14500s and CR123's as well.

My case, the springs are very tight. It sounds like an electrical component, similar to the whine of a high power transformer. err...hard to explain a sound sometimes but it is like "MIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII" but when I put the batteries on it becomes "WO-O-O-O-O-O-O-O-O-O-O-O-O" :)

I think I will likely just put it in the "In case the other ones break" category.
