You would have to order some some softip 510 cartomizers to refill without a syringe. You can also drip with an atomizer on an ego as well. Many people swear by cartomizers and many love atomizers. Alot of this stuff is a matter of preference that you will find after exploring a bit. I use 510 manual bats with softip cartomizers for when im out of the house. While at home I use a 5volt passthrough and drip with a 2.5 ohm atomizer. I have this on order RoughStack should be here today or tomorrow. I will be starting with a low resistance 510 atty and see how that goes. If its not quite right ill try some other atty/carto options until I hit the right mix

A lot of this depends on the exact kit your looking at purchasing. something along these lines 510 eGo Kit with a pack of these Refillable 510 Cartomizers would be a good place to start. This an ego knock off kit but the price is pretty good. I personally use this company because they have respectable prices, really fast shipping and good customer service. Feel to free to hunt around but something like this is what I would be looking for if you don't want to use the ego cartomizers. I'm sure there are alot of guys on here that will be offering you some suggestions with other vendors/models as well.

Pretty much. Keep in mind that cartomizers are generally 5 per box. I would order 2 boxes as you want to fill some and leave them for future use and they do not last forever.

I would not order anything else, like extra atomizers, etc until you use it and discover what you like.

For instance, i bought extra atomizers initially as i was somewhat clueless then. However, I do not really use the atomizer/cartridge combo much, if at all.

EDIT: You can fill standard 510 cartomizers rather easily using either the condom method or drip. I never use a needle, no need. However, from what i read some other types you do. For instance the new XL cartomizer for the EGO I believe you pretty much need a needle to fill it.

EGO kit from LiteCigUSA $55 (this kit comes with atomizer and cartridges - not cartomizers)

Supplies:
2 boxes of standard cartomizers (5 per box): @8 each = $16.
10 ML liquid at $4.25 per bottle - you need 2 or 3 to start.

You are good to go and need nothing else. Then, once you decide what you like, order supplies.

In my personal view it is good to order the kit with atomizer/cartridges as you may like those and cartomizers are cheap anyhow. Atomizer is like $8 for 1, cartomizers are $8 for a box of 5.

I think were confusing cartridges and cartomizers. A cartridge is what come with the kit, with the kit you have atomizers and cartridges in two seperate pieces. Your probably going to prefer the cartomizers just because they are easier to use and dont require as much maintenance.The cartridge is nothing but a container for juice basically. You drip juice into it and there is wicking material that holds it. a cartomizer is both of those items combined into one. With a cartomizer you put about 20 drops of liquid into it and screw the unit into the battery and you are good to go for awhile. That being said its still a good idea to have the atomizers for a later day if you want to try direct dripping etc.

so with my EGO battery once I get a cartomizer I would get rid of the EGO atomizer and the cartridge since the cartomize is both?

The difference is this: Cartomizer = atomizer and cartridge in 1 piece. With a cartridge you have to have an atomizer.

The difference is cartomizers are less hassle than a cartridge - not more - as they last far longer before needing to refill. However, some people prefer the atomizer/cartridge combo because of maybe stronger hits. I rarely ever use that setup - but you may prefer that. Hard to know until you try it.

Point being, if your kit comes with atomizer and cartridges i would not buy extra cartridges and atomizers until after you try that setup. You may be like me and never use them.

In addition, if you ever want to try dripping you have to have an atomizer.

I think he was referring to the Ego Cartomizers as far as the syringe goes. with an atomizer you can also order something like this Aluminum Dripper Tip this lets you drip juice directly onto the atomizer without using a cartridge or cartomizer. I know were throwing lots of stuff at you but the idea with a kit like these is that you have options to experiment and find what works best for you

I think it may be easy to confuse "dripping" with one method of refilling a cartomizer - dripping the liquid into it...

i have never tried it, as of yet. If you want to do that or try it, you will need a drip tip. Many people love doing it. You only get a couple of puffs each time and have to put more juice in it though.

Basically the drip tip allows juice to flow right to the atomizer for stronger hits....no cartridge is used...just an atomizer and drip tip.

My personal view is that cartridges have little, if any value since the advent of the cartomizer. If you want stronger hits, then drip. For convenience, then cartomzier. I see little use for cartridges, but that is my view.
