I been trying to help my father to slow down a bit on his smoking habits, but everytime I do he just does it fow a few days and then goes back to his over a pack of marlboro reds, he has been smoking for about 35 years, he knows that is bad for him but he doesnt care so much about quiting, I tried buying him ecigs and marlboro flavour from totally wicked. He thought it was interesting, thats what he said... but kind of tries it on and off for a few days, consumes less cigarettes and then back to his cigarettes completely, is there any flavour out there that is similar to it? I gave him the 18mg, any suggestion on what would be a better fit for him? I would appreciate any help..

Try some with Turkish tobacco flavor. It leaves kind of a cigarette aftertaste that I find satisfying in a smoking sort of way. Nothing is every going to really taste like a Marlboro, so it's best to look for something that tastes even better.

Casablanca from BackwoodsBrew and Turkish tobacco WTA from Aroma ejuice are two that I like, but I think it is a general characteristic of the Turkish flavoring.

Cool of you to be helping your father. Are there any dessert or fruit flavors he really likes? They could inspire him to switch it up more.

I've ordered kits for family members who wanted to try vaping. It only works if they want to switch to something more safe that can get them off cigarettes. One in particular (older BIL) is still smoking while on oxygen. He vapes sometimes, but hasn't finished the BWB Casablanca 10ml bottle I gave him 6 months ago.

Maybe it would help if you printed some info for him to read about expectations and how the hardware works. I printed the entire Wonderful World of Vaping text from the ECF library (about 40 pages or so). He read it and vaped for a while, but still smokes.

Unfortunately I have the same problem with my father. I have given him over $250 worth of equipment and juices. He has had 5 heart attacks and really bad emphasima. He will vape for a few days, and goes back to smoking. Nothing I can do will change his mind either. I wish you the best luck, I hope your father eventually gets it. Some people are unfortunately not willing to change their lives no matter what people around them do to help.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news but I have a similar story. My mom has been a heavy smoker for about 63 years. She has COPD and Emphysema. She started out vaping with me about two years ago. Although she never completely gave up the cigs, the improvement in her lung function was significant. I prefilled all of her cartos, charged all of her batteries, etc. All that she had to do was to vape. She slowly went back to cigs full time and has not vaped in about a year except to try a few puffs here and there.

The thing is that she never wanted to give up her cigs :( IMO if a person is not motivated and does not want to stop smoking, there is little that you will be able to do to make it happen.

I do hope that your father decides that he is ready to quit smoking and wish you luck :)

First, he needs a PV model that will have at least the minimum level of consistency and somewhat warm vapor. So I would at least give him a Kgo or E-Power or 5 volt GLV2 to use.

Second, I would start him off with 24mg nicotine strength eliquid and make sure he knows to inhale into the mouth and not directly into the lungs due to how much drier vapor is.

Third, I use to smoke Marlboro and Kent. The closes eliquid I found to those two are Liberty Flights PG version, Home Counties and Janty's PG version (Elixir series) (high) KNT (Kent). Both are smooth tobacco flavors.

Janty Europe - Elixir PG eLiquid KNT 15ml

I helped someone cut back on the cigs. they are not interested in quitting, but they tried vaping because I told them they could often vape where they could not smoke. so she uses it in those places (hospital was a big one recently). hey, every cig she does not smoke is better than nothing :) I have been vaping for over a year. I was smoking 2 1/2 + pad. I still smoke 2 cigs a day <shrug> I'm old and I want to so I do :)

Unfortunately, he's going to have to come to you. He knows you're there. If he does come to you, you have to stay after him and help him adjust to any problems. If that means getting him a mod, that's what it means. I've been doing this with my wife and she seems to have settled on a buzz pro with a DCT tank. Luckily I found a replacement for mine cheap on the classies. It was painful letting her have my buzz pro. :)

I think others are right on the mark when they say first he needs to decide to quit.
Once you can get him to that point, I think the next big hurdle is finding his favorite flavor.
Doesn't necessarily have to be a cigarette type taste either, just something he really likes. I struggled until I found my all day vape (7 Leaf Tobacco Blend by ECBlend). Once I found my flavor it was easy to put away the cigs for good.

I have this same problem I switched to ecigs but my wife will not give it the time of day. She says she likes her cigarettes and that she doesn't want to look like an idiot carrying a stupid looking thing that lights up or is as big as her pack of cigarettes around(ironically she carries a pack of cigarettes around...lol). But when she was in the hospital for 2-3 days after our 3rd child was born she really wanted my e-cig then. When she got out though it was right back to smoking it is their choice to switch or not. maybe they will all come around one day...or not.

As a former smoker for 20 years; I can this:

I watched my uncle die with a hole in his throat: caused by smoking for over 40 years. We took him down to the smoking area in the hospital, and he would smoke by placing the smoke in the hole. As sick as this sounds; and looks, he was terminal; the damage is done, and since its terminal; there is no reason at all to deny someone. As a family of smokers; we would all smoke with him, So if you want to see how bad that looks, it is.

I was mid 20's and I smoked even more; The bottom line, is only if you want to quit will you. The more people preach, the worse you make it. By offering ECIGS; that is a good option only if the person wants to go that route. If you have watched the barb Tarbox story; that alone would scare people. I want people to switch to ECIGS; I know it saves lives, and can and will continue to be the safer concept we all wished was there 40 years. Had it been; it could have saved millions. Smoking is a know killer; and its very good killer, its great delivery system of death; however we all this; especially now.

In this case, if a smoker does not want to switch, or quit, offer support; but not criticism. Been critical backfires, and causes more issues, In Canada 90% of the packages are a health warning. It does not get any more in your face then that. However, if you want to quit you can, but only those that want to will be successful. Did you know the patch has a failure rate of over 90% in three months? E CIGS are 99% safer, and we know that. However as I said only if you want can you quit.

Your dad has been smoking all his life. To him it's like losing the woman he loved for 35 years. I wish it were easier but he's got to initially want to quit smoking and then have the pv as reinforcement. Your doing a great service for your father, i hope it works out. The best thing you can do is keep trying

good luck

I just want to say good luck. Don't give up, but those who said don't criticize are right. I've smoked for 35 years also. My son always wanted me to quit, but I just didn't want to. I enjoyed smoking. I still would, and still really don't want to quit. However, I started vaping 3 days ago, and haven't had a cig in that time. A miracle for me. For me, it was a combination of beginning to be short of breath, coughing more, seeing others on oxygen and not wanting to get to that point, economics, the nastiness of it etc.

Have you asked him what it is he's not getting from the vaping that causes him to go back to the cigs? Find out where his head is at about it all. Ask what he likes most about smoking, and what he would like best about quitting if he were to do so. Again, good luck, and don't give up. He is truly lucky to have someone who cares so much. Oh, and definitely make sure when he does vape that he's taking about a 4 second draw on it as others have said. Makes all the difference in the world.

I smoked Marlboro reds for over 40 years. I hated the perfumey garbage that most sites sell as tobacco flavors. RTSvapes.com has these Chinese Tobacco Blends

The Marlboro tastes exactly like Marlboro. They carry nearly every other brand too, but I haven't tried them, so I cannot vouch. The Marlboro is so F'ing strong though you really have to be careful how much you mix. I made my first batch so strong it gagged me and I split it up into 3 bottles! It's VERY concentrated. You know how you suck up one squeeze in an eyedropper and it's like an inch high? It's been awhile since I made a batch, but I think I used a squeeze and a half for a 30 ml bottle? I shoot for 24 mg strength also to get the Marlboro satisfaction. Give it a try and see if your dad likes this more?

I hate to say this but until he want's to quit analogues nothing you do is likely to work, if he is open to vaping but not finding it satifying then up the nic level. The other thing may be that the equipment is a little confusing and he won't admit it, does he live close enough for you to call on him regular? it may help if he has you on hand for support.
