When I got my starter kit on 11/27/12 around 5pm, I immediately started vaping like crazy. I had a sampler pack plus some carts that came with the kit. I was amazed at the taste and satisfaction of the ecig. I thought it would take a bit of a transition to stop the analogs. However, my wife and I would always have an analog just before bedtime around 10:30pm. I lit up the analog and took 2 drags before putting it out. The taste and TH was absolutely horrid. I was amazed it only took five and half hours to stop the analogs. I will admit that I have had some wicked cravings for analogs and stumbled a few times, but I have only smoked 5 or 6 analogs since 11/27. Maybe one per week I guess and I consider that a great victory considering I was a 1.5 PAD smoker before. Now the smell of tobacco smoke makes me gag and cough a bit. The other night I was walking out of Wallyworld and a group of folks were standing in the parking lot smoking as I passed by. I caught a whiff of the smoke and it made me give one of those short coughs like non-smokers give to smokers when they are annoyed by smokers, which was not intentional on my part, it was a genuine cough. However, one guy in the crowd took exception thinking it was the "non-smoker's annoyed cough" and remarked "hey, at least we are outside." I walked over and explained it was not as he thought and told him I'm an ex-smoker and explained about how I now vape. I pulled out my PV and showed him and the crowd. The next thing I know I'm giving an informative lecture on the ecig. I always carry vendor cards with me now and three folks in the crowd showed interest and I gave them my cards. I also put my email addy on the back of the cards for folks to contact me if they have any other questions. Later that evening I had an email from one of the crowd members thanking me for the ecig information and telling me he'd placed an order for a starter kit. To make a long story even longer...:D... this is like the 5th time I've given the informative lecture to smokers and now I have $75 of credit on one of my vendor accounts. So apparently I've "converted" 5 people to ecigs and have had quite a few emails. A few of those folks are on this forum now as well.

As usual, I've rambled on again :2cool: but if you've read any of my posts, I can't give a short answer  (The curse of being an English major. We don't simply say yes, no or maybe...we tell you why and support our answer like a 5 paragraph essay) :p

Been there Done that too! Simply aweful!!!

Its a little funny how we all know whats in a cigarette and why they are bad for us and even why they should taste bad...yet at one point we all have a little craving and have to satisfy that nostalgic feeling that just came over us when we walk by a smoker.

Lest we forget...=)

Same experience here. After about a month of vaping, I decided to try a traditional cigarette, just to test the waters of how well the e-cigs were doing in comparison. Took one drag and it tasted terrible and made me cough hard. Took another one just to be sure, and the same result. Put it out and threw out the remainder of the carton I had stashed away for "emergencies". I knew then that I was committed to not going back to regular cigs, even if e-cigs disappeared off of the face of the earth.

I quit ten days ago. Vaping has made it relatively easy for me to quit the analogs.

I think anyone can quit, if they really want to....

I was able to quit my 2+ pack a day habit very easily from my first vape. However, I've seen posts from people who smoked less who are struggling to quit completely after months. Everyone's body and psychological make-up is different so it's very important that we show compassion and support for those who are having a tough time of it.

After 3.5 weeks i even dont want to "taste" real cigarette anymore. If my wife smokes them and im next to her then i dont like the smell anymore.
Im only unhappy because my expensive zippo is useless now and has been sitting on the table corner 4 weeks now :(
I used to play with it all the time - now i even dont carry it with me.

Same applies to chew. I was a can of Cope a day guy. I vaped for about two months, then popped in a chew. The taste made me nauseous. The buzz was uncomfortable. My stomach hurt. The dry mouth horrible.

So I ventured into the world of ego, then variable volt. Haven't looked back. It's been about one year :D

Yeah, I dipped skoal straight usually, and I'd put over half a can in my mouth at a time. I tried it again maybe a month after I quit (not because I craved it, I was just curious, I guess), and it remained in my lip for about 4 seconds. Man is that stuff gross.

I think our bodies have a way of telling us we found a better way of getting our addiction satisfied.

There's nothing wrong with a long post. But this is what I have to do when reading long posts on this forum. I have to break it up and add white space just to get throught the post. I've been wearing scripts for about 3 years and have participated on forums for slightly over a year. I get my vision checked annually.
Just a thought

UPDATE: My wife just sat down at the table and lit a cigarette. It smells pretty good and revives an aromatic memory, but I don't want one when she does that. It just reinforces the fact that I am through with them. Were it not for ecigs, I don't know where I would be on quitting. I just have a vape when the crave hits and all is well.

There was a time when I quit cold turkey that I would sit nervously at the table and tear up paper straw covers, fold napkins into neat creations, and fidget. No more! Vaping has replaced cigs completely.
