I started smoking at 15, by the time I got to college I was at 1 pack a day atleast. So May 2009 I quit, cold turkey. The main reason I quit was because its really taboo in my family, my gf hated it, and I started training mma. I also started to feel like ...., because im a Med student and my Pathology class just had some really vivid pictures of carcinoma and emphysema BUT even though I havnt had a cig in over a year, the urge to smoke is almost unbearable. 90 Percent of my friends smoke and its gotten to a point where I cant even hang out with them without getting intense urges. I havnt cheated at all yet and smoked, so Im really looking to get an e-cig for that occasional nicotine buzz. I did some research and the only e-cigs I found that seem legit are the blu-cigs and the south beach smoke e-cigs. Im not looking to spend more then 50 bucks on a starter kit. The southbeach has a deal for 30 dollars for a basic starter kit. Are there any other ones you guys can recommend?

if your looking for cheap go to: Tasty Vapor
$25.00 + $5.00 flat rate shipping gets you a starter kit with 2 bats, 2 attys, a charger and 5 empty carts for $30.00

juice is going to cost you extra and people rave about TV. if you go to our supplier forum you can get the coupon master code list and search suppliers with sales and so forth for your juice.

Blu is going to be expensive in the long run since they don't recommend you refill with juice.. and buy their carts which is expensive in the long run, southbeach anything just sounds expensive.. TV sells 510 kits for an amazing price and it's not going to break the bank. Watch a few vids on youtube and read around here. You've come to the right place in the e-cig world to get started ^^ Welcome aboard!

It depends on how often you intend to use it. If you know right now that vaping will bring you back to your old habits, you'll probably want to jump into a slightly better device like an eGo. They can be had for around $40 shipped...but then you'd need to get juice as well. Still, cheaper than Blu and MUCH MUCH better.

Feel free to PM me if you have questions or need suggestions on where to shop!

I know that Blu and Southbeach or whatever sound legit...but they really just have better advertising. Stick around the forum a little longer before you buy...there are people who have been doing this for a long time...the websites we order from look, well...ghetto as all hell...but it's really because we are ordering from small companies rather than big ones trying to cash in on the vaping market with crappy products. My first kit...and after vaping for a while, I STILL recommend it..was the $35 manual Joye 510 kit from cignot (I ordered from them because I am in IN, they would ship quickly to OH as well, they are a company owned by two women in Chicago.) It's a good starter PV and not too much of an investment. Juice is a whole different story.
I am so glad I did not go with the SS Choice No. 7 that I almost bought after a week of google searching. I watched reviews, and found out that there was better and cheaper stuff out there. You know why I almost bought that No. 7? Because they looked the most legit. They had the nicest webpage and the hippest advertising. Looking back..their products look like absolute crap, and I almost spend close to $200. If you can afford it, Basilray's right..start with an Ego..or a Riva. They are even more awesome than 510s, just try to find the cheapest place to buy an Ego kit from..or just get a battery and a charger...and pick up some atties...voila...that's a kit!

Anyway, please..don't let advertising fool you. Watch and read a lot of reviews and see what people who are die hard vapers use. If it helps, after all the information I gave him, a friend of mine bought a Blu. He already wants something else because it just isn't working out for him. Don't waste the money.

I got owned by "smoking stick" and some unknown brand the guy was selling at the mall before I found the info here. Troll around a bit and read the recommendations. I went with the 510 and now the eGO battery, sure I'll find some more fun mods later but for now it's worked out and I'm completely happy with the end result thanks to the knowledge here!

The e-cigarette market are sort of the reverse of every other market you've ever seen.

The worse the website looks, the better the company is. And the better the website looks, the more suspicious I am of the product.

A lot of people have issues with reliability and performance of the Blu. I didn't like it. I can't speak about Southbeach, but... I'll recommend something that I *know* is good.

You can buy the Kr808D-1 kit at ElectroNicStix for $35. It's a 2-piece system with cartomizers, which means that they hold more liquid and you fiddle with them less. however, cartomizers don't last for a real long time, and thus are cheaper.

Or, you can buy the Joye 510 kit at CigNot, also for $35 (the No Box kit). It's a 3-piece with an atomizer, so more fiddling. But atomizers can last longer, and thus are a bit more expensive.

If you click the link in my signature, I do some tutorials about these models, and buying your first juices as well. Or, you can look at the Stickies in the New Members forum. :)

Hey tp712, another Ohioan here. You don't have enough posts for me to PM (private message) you so I'll post a response here. If you are in my neck of the woods I'd be happy to let you try out some of my gear before you decide to buy anything. I've got a bunch of Joye 510's and a couple of eGo's along with a bunch of juice flavors. I'm in the NE over by Akron. If you get enough posts, I think it's 5 but I may be wrong, PM me if you're interested.

I recommend the JOye 510. Vicky at Cignot is wonderful to work with. I would get this https://www.cignot.com/product_p/kit-510-pcc.htm

If you haven't smoked for a while, get no nicotine juice or, at most, 6mg/ml nicotine juice. 0 would be better but if you want a little nicotine buzz, no more then 6 mg/ml. Backwoods Brew makes the best juice available and it is very inexpensive. Try the coffee flavors to start. Their cappuccino is delicious. http://www.backwoodsbrew.net/index....category_id=1&option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=11. Get 15 ml of 0 or 6 mg nicotine to start. Nothing will ever taste like a cigarette but that is ok because cigarettes taste like crap anyway. Backwoods Maxboro is a good flavor too.

For a guy who has been off of tobacco for a while, the standard 510 battery will be good for an evening out with the guys. It should last you 1.5 to 3 hours. Stay away from nicotine if you can. The lowest dose will do if you can't. Good luck!

Hey TP712, MistressNomad is absolutely correct. I completely agree with her that you should go to her channel on Youtube and watch her video series on E-cigarettes. Takes you thru the differences, pros and cons and maintenance of the Kr808d-1 and the 510's. VERY informational for a newbie. I watched them from A-Z and felt empowered enough to make an intelligent choice. Then come back here when you decide, I'm sure people will help you to find a tried and true website to buy from. My only regret is that I didn't see MistressNomad's video series until AFTER I got snookered by Lucky Slicks...(Yeah, I know...who are they? No one here seems to have ever heard of them before) :) They look great, but the batteries only last 2 or 3 very short vaping sessions, and the cart not even that long. So I too am on the hunt again.

Good luck and happy vaping (when you get there!)
