Ok, total noob questions but was curious how you guys test out new flavors. I do not have a drip so that is not an option. I have G6 and Triton. I hate using a big tank for a quick taste/test. So I've used mini tanks for a test but i usually use as little juice as possible because 9 out of 10 times, I'm not going to like it and need to steep it longer. So it seems kinda a waste of time/effort to use a mini tank too.

I do have some empty low resistance G6 carts...I haven't used carts in a while but it think it only requires about 20 drops. Would LR cartos be an ok way to tests/taste juices or anyone else have a better was know what PV's I have.

No. Drip the juice down the sides.

If you leave the wick tube in there, be sure to remove the diaper, as that will burn. Not sure if the vids you watched covered that. I guess leaving the center tube would help in preventing flooding or leaking, but I just put 2 drops in at a time and it works like a charm.

It works. The flavors are a bit muted, but it works.

I prefer the mini tank myself; caramel blends into banana, which blends into strawberry cream... :p

But yeah, I'd use the drip otherwise.

The Triton tanks are so cheap though, and the flavors are better. If I know I'm going to like it, I put 1 mL in a Triton.

I used to test with mini tanks, but found I don't like them very much- they get hot. I moved on to testing with Triton tanks. There are 2 Halo flavors I just can't vape, so I didn't feel bad about dumping out the juice and washing out the tanks and wicks. If I think it needs a bit of steeping, I just set that tank aside in the steeping tin- an empty Halo sample tin, and steep in the tank.

UGH! Success w/this method trying 2 flavors, the third...damn juice leaked and got inside my battery. So is my battery fried now? Gurgle sounds but I still tried to use it and it sounded like its drying out. The battery is just the G6 so not a ton of money wasted.

And I see what you mean about the flavors being muted...I'm putting an order in for a bunch of mini tanks...I believe that's the best way to try out a new flavor unless you know how to drip like a pro and not have juice leaking all over. LOLOLOL

Mini-tanks work best outside of my RDA on my mech mod. It's just large enough to allow me a good taste of the flavor over a period of time.

The full flavor never comes through right away, and you need a "session" to give it all a chance to meld with the device. The mini-tanks capacity if perfect for it.

Plus they are easy to clean out a reuse.

So...weather it's a Halo juice or some crazy mix I created it starts with my own smell test. Shake the container vigorously. Some bottles need the tip removed or remove the dripper. Move to a room where you don't have any other oders like the kitchen when dinner is cooking would be a bad place. Next cup your hands around the juice container and hold it under your nose and then smell.

LOL

I call this the preview and it's always my first step. Take the first batch of Southern Classic as an example. It smelled really really bad so I went no further and jumped on ECF to see what others were saying. Never filled a tank until it had steeped for a couple of days. Or my combo mix of Tribeca and Voodo. Smelled my mix and also the separate components. Not bad, lets try a vape in plastic. Or Elvis which had that really yummy smell of a jar of peanut butter while creating so I knew or maybe I was wishing lol that it might be worth the time and frustration to unlock the magic of The King. Iv'e also had juice that smelled horrible and that's the way they vaped. A lot of I'm not sure so lets vape it but rarely does a yummy smell produce an unacceptable flavor.

I'm not saying that the smell equates to how it vapes. It's just a helpful preview for me that only takes seconds. Go ahead and try it.

I can't agree with you more and makes sense..if something smells like s**t, do you want to eat it? Same with vaping. I've got three samples left to try and one to "re-try". Southern Classic has seriously been steeping, shaken you name it for over two weeks and it still smells horrible to me. I don't want to try it and give it thumbs down if its really good and I didn't wait long enough.

Longhorn is smelling good now and still not sure about Turkish. Tribeca I'm trying again. I did not like it at all the first time. For those Halo Vets w/great noses/taste buds...is there a commonality to Turkish, Tribeca and Souther Classic? Meaning a sweet hit or sweet something in all? There's something about certain sweet flavors (not sure which ones yet) that come across to me as perfume/flowery/chemical that I don't like.

Voodoo that some find sweet or Midnight Apple seems a deeper sweet and love them. I've wanted to try Tiki and Malibu but now nervous to waste them because I don't know if its the sweet kind that I don't like. Does this make any sense at all? I'm not a dessert fan in food, don't eat a lot of sweets-maybe this is why? I just know some of these "sweet" flavors taste horrible to me. LOLOL

This makes total sense to me. I have a growing list of vapes I either don't care to use or may have to mix with something else to use at all. Halo's Tribeca and EC Blends ry4 both taste....butterscotch to me and are far too sweet on their own. I love caramel, but butterscotch is something that I really have to be in the mood for. ECB butter toffee seems too sweet to me also. So one would think that I need to avoid any sweet ejuices all together because I don't like them at all. And Yet.....I Love the chocolate hazelnut and chocolate covered banana from ECB. Not too sweet, melts in my mouth, could vape it all day long. Cannot understand it at all. Is it the caramel/butterscotch component that makes something too sticky sweet? What is it about chocolate flavors that makes it all good?

You and I must share taste buds..LMAO! Certain sweets I do like...coffee w/drops of vanilla..drops, a few, that's all I can take. I do like chocolates, but hints of it. I had to add coffee (my go to mixer-LMAO, coffee tastes good w/everything) to Tribeca so I could vape the tank I tried it in.

I can not determine what is the flavor or smell in these juices that is turning me off. At least you smell or taste butterscotch because all I smell/taste is chemical, flowers, perfume. I can not pin point a taste to even know what to avoid in buying liquids.

i too prefer subtlety over one overpowering note in a flavor mix. although if i might add: it is seriously stupid how delicious kringle's curse it. i mean just mind-numbingly dumb that anything tastes that good that isnt related to pork.

i'm learning with most vapes, as i become more experienced. vanilla and very subtle mint notes do well with me. then chocolates, last is usually clove like spices or coconut.

As soon as I get my current sample bottles down..I'm going to look at the mints/chocolates next to try. I know one of them was described as a candy cane (no thanks) but if there's one with a cocoa, coffee, mint taste, that would be delicious! Maybe a drop of vanilla in it! YUM

the candy cane one is probably kringle's curse. i too thought i would hate it, but the peppermint is extremely smooth and subtle. it instantly became my favorite.

Let's please NOT beat yourselves up over some aspects of this thread. Why? For about the first YEAR of vaping and that means no cigs, your body, my body, and all vapers are in DETOX. I'm really lucky because I often workout with a very high level retired RN who has great knowledge in this area via her husband quitting cold turkey and is my mother hen so to speak. She is also a trainer and diet person. Boy o Boy when she starts asking me about my state of Detox and goes into some gory details some people walk away. LOL

In simple terms and only two aspects of Detox, your sense/ability to smell and your sense/ability to taste are still evolving/changing. Getting better every day so patience please. We will all get their. I remember the first time I could smell freshly cut grass. That's the grass on a lawn please. LOL My God, I freaked out. I could not believe it. I had not smelled freshly cut grass in 25 years. I thought I was hallucinating and drove back by the lawn again to make sure. Then a month later I actually tasted the beans in strong coffee which previously seemed bland and another time I could smell the cig smoker clouds of el yucko in the bar. I'm not a Dr. but ask your own Dr. and if they know their stuff they should also help you, so no one freak out please.

HTH
