Hi guys, I have a few questions I am sure you guys can answer. Recently I stepped into the Mechanical mod scene and I love it so far but I am aware of the risk that are there. My question is I recently purchased a Kamry K-100 telescoping mod. I'm sure you know there are 2 batteries that come with the Kit but I went out and bought an Efest 2000 mah IMR battery as well. I built a coil that is reading with my multimeter at 1.3ohms, is this safe to vape at with out the worry of the battery exploding in my face? I also make sure that none of the batteries drop below 3.2-3.1v when I am using them throughout the day. Also I like to take long draws maybe 6 to 7 seconds is that safe to do @ 1.3ohms?

Yes, your Efest IMR battery can handle 1.3 ohms no problem. I don't foresee the long draws being an issue in that case, either. At that resistance level you shouldn't have anything to worry about if everything is working properly :)

In the event of something unexpected such as a short, the first warning sign to look out for would be the switch on your mod (or even the tube itself) suddenly getting hot. Under normal operation, the battery and mod won't be hot to the touch. But a situation like that can potentially happen with any battery/device/resistance combination

I don't know myself what the batteries are that came with the kit, but if you are concerned about using them a good place to ask for more info on them would be here: Batteries and Chargers Just share whatever info you do have available and a pic of them wouldn't hurt, either.
When it comes to batteries, I like the motto "when in doubt, don't". I applaud you for addressing your uncertainty by taking the initiative to buy an additional battery with a known track record

Things to remember about mech mods. Don't scrimp on batteries. Efest is in second place IME next to the 30amp sonys. You can put the battery in backwards but don't. Don't use a battery with the plastic damaged as it can cause a short and make the mod fire. Use the locking ring when not in use. Do not exceed the amperage rating of the battery. Learn OHMS laws. Use a good smart charger on you batteries. Overcharging and over draining will damage a battery and maybe make you have a bad day.

It is also advisable to use at least a fuse with the mech. That way, you'll have at least minimal protection against a short.

Have you considered using a Kick module? It's really great, because you get added protection AND variable wattage! It sort of 'converts' a mech mod into a simple regulated one... apart from VW, it will also give you protection agains shorts, inverted polarity and over-discharge.

And get a middle of the road multi-meter, or one of the dedicated ohm checkers. NEVER fire a coil that you don't know the precise resistance of! (If you already have a tube or box mod with that feature, it'll do, but a separate one is more convenient, and if a DMM, can also check your battery voltage.)
