Trying to decide on a big batt mod...help me out

So I've been vaporizing for a month now, and I'm very happy with it. My box mods have been working just fine, and I've got lots of ideas for future projects. But as a reward to myself for reaching the 1000 cigarettes avoided mark, I'm thinking about purchasing a big battery device from a vendor...enjoying someone else's hard work instead of my own. I've narrowed the list down to the following: Silver Bullet, Prodigy, Janty Stick, The Chuck, and the GLV.

Here's my analysis of the pros and cons of each. Please offer any additional information you think I should consider that I may have left out.

Silver Bullet
+ Design is simply beautiful
+ Appears to be sturdy
+ Takes a 510 atomizer
+ Different voltage options with battery changes

Prodigy
+ Lots of parts and adapters available
- Unclear what voltage is stock
- Cost

Janty Stick
+ Very small
+ Attractive design
- Looks a bit flimsy
- Smaller battery (lower mAh)

The Chuck
+ Appears to be durable enough to use as a bludgeoning tool
+ Custom designs
+ Voltage options with battery changes
- Ugly switch

GLV
+ Interesting design with good button placement
- Kind of big and strange looking

So far, these are roughly in order of preference, but that may change if I receive some new information, so help me out -- more information is better than not enough.

These have lockout buttons for putting it in your pocket. My new ones I built have lights to tell you if the lock out button is on or off.

IMO- 5 volts is perfect. I use 510 atty's

3.7 is too low and 6 is too high.

Battery change for 3.7 to 6 volt is a waiste of time and energy. 3.7 volt is lame afte you've gone higher.

Prodigy has it right offering a 5 volt button, so if you have to get it.

I also was considering a bigger mod. You seem to have found the same canidates I did, with the possible exceptions of the VP2 and GG.

As to the prodigy, the old version had 2 switches. The one with resistor at 5v only, and the one withought the reistor for either 3.7v or 6v+ use depending on batteries used. As to which the old version came with stock, it was the one with the resistor as the website still shows it at 5v (a deduction, and my own investigation via pm'ing Prodigy users)

In the end I put my quest for a HV mod on the shelf for now, as the ones I really had the most intrest in are not even in stock. They are remaking the prodigy so I couldn't say what the next version of it will be exatly as it has not yet been released

What I opted for instead was the protoge, (x2) as the battery life on the stock 510 was really annoying me ( I swap them every hour or 2) and while the protoge uses a 14500 battery instead of the monstrous 18650 I felt it was a happy comprimise between battery endurance and size of the mod.

Another consideration in my choice of the protoge was my wife wanted a mod also, and it suited her liking. With this in mind I did not want her to end up being covetous of my...huge mod.

Assuming the same atomizer type and similar voltage source, all these modified battery packs should perform similarly. That really leaves your decision to ergonomic features (i.e. button placement, size, etc.), safety features, and general design. All the devices on your list can vape at 3.7 volts with long life rechargeable batteries. Many on your list can run up to 6 volts (some with optional extension sleeves).

There are two I would recommend that you add to the list of candidates: Super-T (Super T Manufacturing) and the AdapteveR (AdapteveR - Solder-less - USA Quality).

The Super-T is a finely-crafted, 100% mechanical device. Not much to break. It is the smallest and lightest battery pack I am aware of. Three year warranty, adjustable button throw, adjustable button sensitivity, venting air holes, locking button and adjustable ariflow adapter (for 801 only). Adapters are available for 801, 901 and 501 atomizers as well as an extension sleeve for 6v vaping. A Super-T running a BE112 at 6 volts with the new adjustable airflow adapter is the 'bee's knees'.

The Adaptever is a tank; a true, durable, hand-crafted heavyweight in this class of devices. Buttons are user replacable and readily available so you never have to return it for service. The Adaptever also has a variety of adapters for common atomizers and a special high voltage sleeve for 6 volt vaping.

Most of these you mention arent even available for ordering or on a no pre order list. Some arent.

Just get the one you like best. Voltage and atomizer are what produce the vape.

All seem about the same to me.

I have several and also have the Chuck which I think is awesome.

The Chuck can be had pretty fast, Not sure on the rest as suppliers always seem not to have any in stock.

I have to laugh because Im in the same situation as the OP.
Im 1 month into vaping and now looking at getting a Hybrid too.

Lots of choices out there.
Right now Im leaning towards the Chuck as a starter, then maybe getting the Prodigy.
The Silver Bullet looks really good too, but they are out of stock.

I was looking at the SuperT and the AdapteveR, but I dont want a unit with a bottom manual button. I want it on the side.

I have to say though that Im also strangely interested in the Shotgun.
Some people say its ugly, but I really like the Techno/Mech look to it.

NightShadow: Thanks for the info on the Prodigy, it's good to know. As for the VP2 and the GG, I already ruled those out for aesthetics and button placement.

doots: Yeah, I'm in no hurry to get it. If I have to preorder and wait, or wait until it's available for sale again before ordering, that's fine. Like I said, I'm doing fine with my own mods...this is just a little reward I'm looking at getting myself.

personal experience here (and people will probably blast me for this) but the janty stick is awesome EXCEPT for the plastic body (which is 90% of the mod) i just think that plastic + heat = bad and part of my body started to split after about a monty of use although their customer service is amazing and ethan from JS had a new body out to me with in a few days and its a 6 month warranty on the body i was just worried about after that 6 month mark

Thanks, I found the shotgun thread. Looks like a neat device, but it's not as polished as the others. Plus, there's no way to carry that around in my pocket! I'll probably try and hack something like this together myself, using 510 atomizers, since I prefer them to the 801s.

I own the Prodigy, Protégé, The Chuck, GGT, SB, Magnum, Multi Volt Detonator, Box Mods, The Copper, 510 PCC, 808 PCC, etc.... I vape them in rotation and find that I like something about all of them .. Its a hard choice to make but for me the button and battery options are the most important you can always get the adapters from AltSmoke ..

The only commercial big battery mod I own, or plan to own is the Chuck. I may get a Little Chuck a little while down the road, though.

It's not because I don't like the others, or don't think they will perform as well. I'm sure that any mod with a comparable battery will perform the same. The personalization is what sold it for me. I know for a fact that no one owns a PV exactly like mine, and it suits my personality. I can't see spending a whole lot of money buying a bunch of different ones. I do like the look of some of the others, though.

I'm going to buy a NicoStick box mod next week. After that, I'm going to buy parts and tools to build my own, and I'll use them along with my Chuck, and never touch another crappy 510 battery again. I plan to make a couple for my parents, as well. My mom has been complaining about her 510 batteries, but they are about to move and can't afford to spend the extra money on mods right now.

I'm throwin in my .02 for the Silver Bullet. i chose it over the prodigy and the chuck. no disrespect to either but the SB was bigger than the prodigy but smaller than the chuck. once i got it i was and still am pleasantly surprised! what i like about the SB is i can do the normal 3.7V but change to 6V with a battery change and i do have to say it kicks you know what! plus i bought the little adapters so i can use my 901 and 801 attys. i just cant say enough great things about this thing and again its must my 2cents!!!

Sounds like you have a lot to choose from. I chose the Prodigy because of the options available. I really like vaping at 5 volts. I also have a Protege but still can't not carry the Prodigy, did I mention that I like 5 volts?
