Are they in and out? I think I've been checking mostly a couple times a week, and I set up an acct so I could set up an email alert if they come in, but I suppose it's possibleI've missed them. I've even emailed and asked when some would be back in [no reply].

I'd gladly pay in advance for one if I could get it in a month or so. I REALLY want one badly, and listening to you mentioning how you can change out covers isn't helping. :(

Yes, when they are up, they go fast. I missed out a few times and then I decided to write and see what they could do. Apparently I had missed again shortly before writing smartvapes and didn't even know it. I was able to prepay for one, I think it took about 3 weeks or so and then they were available again and mine got shipped. It was worth the wait tho, great mod!

The cover changing thing is cool, but you are still limited there. Tho I have been looking here All Items on Etsy, a global handmade and vintage marketplace.[]=tags&q=altoid+tin and on ebay for unique covers. Haven't decided on one yet tho. I'm not sure you want to change the cover too often, you have to be careful with those hinges and if you are constantly moving them around I fear they could break. But the cover's paint unfortunately begans to wear after awhile and that is the original reason why I changed to a different cover - and while I was at it, a different colored altoids cover, for fun.

I think smartvapes recently had some downtime but they have a thread on here and you can try checking in with them there too: http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...com-official-sales-thread-whats-sale-now.html

Nothing beats a display in VV mods when searching for your sweet spots. But knobs might work as well however it will take some more learning curve compared to just looking at a display since you will base it on the flavor and or warmth of the vape you're hitting.

As far as I'm concerned the learning curve is about the same. I have my knob spot for the atomizers I put on it and take a hit. Too hot, turn it down a bit. Need more turn it up a bit. Accidentally flood it, turn it up a bit for a while. I honestly don't see what a meter adds to that. I have an inline voltmeter. So, if I really want to know, I can get the voltage but, that's not how I set the knob position.

With a meter, it's not really any different. You have your starting voltage in mind for the atomizer you're using. Too hot, turn it down a bit. Need more, turn it up a bit.

I like to close my eyes and hum a little when I vape, so I don't see the display anyway...I guess I fall in the ZappaBoy camp...hey MickeyRat..I must have passed close to your place last weekend..spent a long weekend in Asheville playin' around.

And I used to live in your neck of the woods. I moved here from Wilmington, NC in 2008. :)

I burnt up my madvapes box in under a month, and it came back from repairs not functioning. I didn't pursue it; if I wanted another I'd probably hold off on some of the 20 watt experimenting and I imagine it would last longer, but since then I've wanted to stick to switching regulators. I bought one of the last refurbished Big Daddies from Ken. It's alright; it's exactly what I wanted in terms of functionality. Mine came a little well worn, though, so it's hard for me to see it as not a second-hand device.

I'm getting a 'bombproof' 18650 vv from Rob 'throathit' on UKVapers.

I think I might throw myself at James's feet to beg him to make me something for these 14500s.

Two words:

Maximum Vapors

They have both wood and plastic if I'm not mistaken, at really good prices. They have just been going through something of a grand reopening. If you hunt a bit for a coupon code, I bet you can get 25% off this weekend.

I should add that the display will probably be inside. Hope that isn't a dealbreaker.
Wow, why such a low price?!
