Trying to get into dual coil builds

So yesterday I received some vape mail, a 2nd magma clone, 2 Holmes rda's and an Orchid v4. I'm used to using a single coil in my kayfuns and magma but with the orchid and other stuff I got I wanted to try dual coils, especially on the orchid and holmes. Last night I was having a hard time wrapping my head around how to build a good dual coil setup that wasn't sub-ohm, and didn't take forever to heat up using 28ga. I wouldn't mind sub-ohming but I have a cloupor DNA30 and it doesn't seem to fire/doesn't like to fire under 4V. So I tried making 2 more microcoils with more wraps (around 5/64th bit) and I got around 1-1.1 ohm and can fire it around 19-19.5 watts. Like I said I'm only used to singles and only using around 13-16 watts for all my stuff. So I guess my question is how can I build a dual microcoil with 28ga, have it be above 1ohm, and not take forever for it to heat up?

Sorry if this is a dumb/noobish question but last night I was tired and couldn't wrap (lol) my head around it, am I just gonna have to get used to using higher wattages and sacrifice battery life?

The best thing for you would be to use thinner/higher gauge wire. Dual coils have half the resistance of a comparable single coil, meaning that you need to quadruple the wire length to reach the same resistance on a dual coil (using the same wire gauge). More wire = increased heat-up time.

Damn, That's one thing I thought about last night but I am awful at working with 30ga and I had just ordered 50ft of 28ga recently as well

11 wraps on 2.5 comes out to about 1ohm on duels. Theres plenty of room in the V4 for that set-up. That's exactly whats in mine right now and it keeps up with a lot of my RDAs. Never tried it on a dna but it should be fine. I fire it on an IPV2 at 30w

Another option is to purchase a high wattage box mod. That would fire up that setup in no time at all.

I was pleasantly surprised by a build the other day. I've always stuck with single coils, but as my (small) RDA collection grows, I can spare some decks to experiment with.

Anyway, I made dual 28ga coils on a plume veil and they measured about 0.9 ohms total. It was either 8 or 9 wraps on a 2mm mandrel, and the legs were super long (I was expecting a couple tenths of an ohm lower). So I'm getting at most 20 watts out of it on a mech, and it's been great. I couldn't get dual 28's to heat at 15 watts even down to 0.7 on a VTR, but this has been quite nice.

The DNA30 should be able to handle something slightly lower than 1 ohm, right?
