Hey guys!

im currently vaping my provari mini with kanger pro tank/aga t2.
I love it, the provari is awesome! Well he wants a simar set up (a vv mod with a kanger pro tank) but doesn't want to spend the money on a provari. He is looking for a cheaper vv mod that is durable dependable and functions well. He doesn't want to spend over 100 on the set up.

any ideas on what mod to get, I have been looking into the vamo v3 for him. It looks like it might be a contender but before I tell him that is the one to buy I wanted to ask you all for suggestions on other mods and or reviews on the vamo v3.

thanks for the help :)

I personally like the eVic, its easy to use and very durable and fits the Kanger Protank nicely. You can pick one up on various sites ranging from $60-$100.

I like my eVic, too. Great device, great features, cool display.

I cannot agree about the "very durable" part, however. It is not a durable device. If they get an eVic, they should get a reliable back up.

Buy 'em all and try them. We all have a prior smoking budget to spend ... unless it's been allocated to other things. :)

One pack a day = $6 x 30 = $180 a month. Double that or adjust it if you smoked more or bought cartons.

That's what made me buy a Provari. Since then I haven't been properly motivated to play the field. The Evic looks good. I like the features and especially the display. How durable is it when dropped? I've dropped my Provari too many times on concrete, wood, and carpet. It still looks like new unless you examine it under a magnifier. Then you can detect a couple of fine scratches. The electronics still work like new.

It's usually when I forget it's stuck under my leg and I get out of the car that it goes rolling across the floor in the garage. It rolls out the door. A couple of times the end cap ended up skewed in the tube. I just press it top down on a cabinet top and all is well. The end cap is secured by a red o-ring in a groove.

Still, I need a better backup than my old eGo's.

The eVic is nothing like the ProVari when it comes to durability. But it is a good, if fragile, device. The display is wonderful. The features are very nice.

It does not deliver voltage as accurately as the ProVari. The lower the battery power is relative to selected output of the device, the less accurate it becomes.

I'm also looking for a back up to my provari... Love the thing! It's very durable, dropped mine quite a few times and cringe every time :)

The evic are nice looking but the durability will play a big part in the decision.. Doesn't care too much on looks as he doesn't dependability and durability.

Thank you all for your input, my search is still goin haha I did run across the evic. Ill see how he likes the MVP and look at some reviews.

I have the SS Vamo AND two Evics, and lov'em all.
For "durability", I would go with Vamo.
For higher voltage/wattage, I would go with Vamo.
For overall FUN and 'geekiness', I prefer Evic, but Vamo costs less.

I've tried a number of Provari mods owned by friends, and tend to prefer 'trying over buying'...not sure why. Anywhoo, for NOW I'm happy with my Vamo & Evics.

Good luck to both of ya! :)

The evic has a ton of options the only issue I see is updating the firmware, we are deploying soon so computer access won't be there. The other issue is that there may be too many options, it might be a problem for him. I will definitely look more into the evic as a bigger contender not that you all have put your input on it in. :)

Vamo and an eVic.

You need a backup. Vamo is cheap but durable (meaning it's not going to die because you look at it wrong but but eventually something is going to give out), eVic is quality but subject to software issues and doesn't seem to be anything like bullet proof.
eVic RVW mode is nice. Vamo can power through the biggest glob of gunk on a coil.

Joyetech eVic Starter Kit [eVic-Kit] - $74.99 : ValueVapor.com, Discount Electronic Cigarettes and e-Liquid
eVic for $75 plus shipping, can be there is a few days. (This can also be had at FastTech for about the same price but has the long shipping time.)

Vamo V2, good charger and betteries for $52 w free shipping can be there in a couple weeks

https://www.fasttech.com/products/1...v3-stainless-steel-variable-voltage-e-cigaret
Vamo V3, good charger and betteries for $59 w free shipping can be there in a couple weeks

3 batteries, 2 mods, good battery charger. $127-134 still cheaper than a Provari with batteries and a charger.

Then an eVic is probably not a good choice and definitely not a stand alone choice at all. Not so much for the firmware updates, you have what you have until you get to a computer. But there is the potential for it to go down and need a computer to reboot it.

a friend has a couple evics and a vamo. another has an itaste mvp, another a lava tube. i have a vamo v2, and a v3 on the slow boat from fasttech.

out of all of those moderately priced apvs, i'd recommend the vamo. solid build. vv/vw, ohm meter, batt voltage, etc. the SS vamo will hold up better than the chrome or gun metal finish. good power output. not sure where he'll be deployed, but if its someplace with a more hostile environment, out of all of the above listed that i've had an opportunity to hold and test, i'd go with the vamo. plus the price for what you get can't be beat. just my :2c:

The Vamo is a fine first mod. It is not as good as an eVic for vape quality, but makes for a great start into VV/VW.

I wholeheartedly recommend it to introduce your friend into vaping.

As a ProVari owner, I would recommend it as a second or third mod. It is the cat's meow, or, the lion's roar of vaping. But, it is expensive and it is easier to appreciate the ProVari's simple elegance once you have used another mod.

The evic sounds like it would be a fun one to tinker with and have at the house, but like Myk said above as a stand alone mod not the best choice and thank you for that input. The vamo is most likely what ill be suggesting to him, sounds durable, dependable, and cheap.

Now if I could just figure out what high end rba to get for myself XD

If anyone else has more suggestions to other devices besides the vamo and evic I'd love to hear them.

Thank you all!!!:)

The Vamo seems to be popping up in most of the mod conversations as the best bang for the buck and the most durable. I like bells and whistles and durability in one package. I've been hoping for a VW version of the Provari with a more up to date control layout and a nice high res display. So far, no news.

I'm actually very careful with the things I buy. I have 8 guitars with no significant scratches or dings because I'm ticky about keeping things nice. The Provari has been one of those things that seem to fall over or roll off the table and it's a heavy clunk when it hits! Still, no discernible damage despite the few falls it has taken.

Like I said before, I have a bad habit of sticking my Provari under my leg while driving. I tend to forget it's there sometimes and it rolls out on the ground every once in a while. Gotta fix that bad habit. :)
