Trying to Quit Smoking

I originally joined this forum back in August of 2012. I wanted to find out more information on e-cigarettes since I knew nothing about them. I did a lot of reading here, mostly because I was not sure how "safe" e-cigarettes are.

Three weeks ago I bought a couple of throw away e-cigarettes like you get in the little variety stores. I was surprised at how good they tasted. I have to admit I almost choked to death on my first inhale. I think my first one was too strong. Now I do not inhale as deeply as I do with cigarettes.

One week ago I got an e-cigarette that still looks like a cigarette, but you re charge the battery, and use pre-filled filter like things. I am not good with all the new vocabulary, sorry. If I am allowed to mention a brand name, this rechargeable Cigarette look alike is called Eon. It tastes very good to a 1-2 pack a day Marlboro Lights 100's smoker who has smoked for over 30 years.

This week I ordered a joyetech eGo Starter Kit. I also ordered 15 mL. of tobacco flavored liquid. I have noticed recently that the liquid tobacco flavor has a sweet taste for some reason. I have read that others have noticed the sweet taste,

I have reduces the number of cigarettes I smoke, but I have not quit them yet. I am down to 5-10 a day. This for me is great!

How long has it taken others to quit smoking? Is it unusual to be still smoking? Any info will be greatly appreciated.:)

Hi! I think you will like the ego kit... i got one a few months ago and love it! It took me a couple of weeks to switch completely to the e-cig with the occasional brain-lapse of trying a regular cigarette, followed by a "why-did-i-do-that?" As soon as I stopped associating vaping with quitting smoking, I was fine; otherwise my brain kept going back to wanting an analog cigarette for whatever reason. Think of it as smoking instead of quitting. Keep with it and I'm sure you will be very happy that you did. I know I am. :) I have found the e-cigs to be way more pleasurable in many ways. Also, trying new flavors really helps. Plus I'm saving tons of $$$.

Once you find your comfort spot with regard to hardware and e-liquid, you pretty much stop smoking analogs without ever looking back. It differs for everyone.

I agree. Took me like 5 months to make the switch. Once I realized I hated all the tobacco flavors I started trying everything else and found a few I loved, that helped me very much make the switch. I also picked an opportune time to kick the ciggs too (stuck in an airport for 16 hours). But ya, it'll be different for everyone.

I just got my first ecig this past Monday. I had help from others that were already onto the ecigs with picking my first setup. I went with the eGo-C upgrade passthrough battery and the Smoktech Dual Coil cartomizers. I also got the same thing for my wife. So far we haven't had a regular cigarette since starting these. I do find myself still going outside when at work just to keep my brain from trying to tell me to get a regular cigarette though.
