Hi everyone! I just joined this forum . I am 65 and smoked menthol for 50 years. I try and get as much info on vape as possible. Have vapes for several years but smoked as well. I have found different methods work for different folks. I started with cig a likes. Right now I think I should have stayed right there. I went on to vape pens and love them but continued to smoke. Just got an on the go cig a like kit with one of my vape orders. I went outside to use it, which is what I always have done with tobacco. Voila ! It works to use outside! What I like is that it looks like a traditional cigarette and is pre filled with a sharper taste. Which is why I stubbornly went outside to smoke. I never would have guessed this solution!

I enjoy my menthol too. Had previously smoked for 25 years and recently was on Marlboro ice blasts cigarettes with the crushable filter thingo.

Made the switch to ecigarettes about a month ago, being in Australia where our backwards government won't allow ecigarettes to be sold containing nicotine had to use menthol ejuices and acquire nicotine from China that I measure and mix to the legally available ejuice flavour. Mix it to 6mg and about to drop to 3mg. Find I'm getting too much nicotine as I vape fairly heavily.

I currently use a Joyetech Cuboid regulated mod with Uwell Crown, Smok TF4, and Smok TFV8 tanks. This allows me to refill with ejuice and customise both the nicotine content and flavour, turn up the watts to customise the vapour production to my needs.

Really enjoying menthol this way, getting some pretty decent menthol hits out my setup and no urges to smoke. Can get alot better menthol cooling effect than I could ever dream of getting from a cigarette. Clears the nose better than Vicks inhalers.

I'm a firm believer in that in order to completely quit tobacco, you have to really want to quit and work at it. There are some individual smokers who were able to quit smoking easily by making the switch to just e-cigarettes, but its my guess that they are in the minority. So, you must be determined to quit.

I loved smoking but hated what it was doing to my body and health. I didn't think that I'd ever be able to quit though.

I had tried to stop smoking using the typical "approved" methods: Nicotine patches & gum, prescription medications, and even hypnosis. None of them worked for me. By chance, I saw my first e-cigarette in a convenience store display: an NJoy disposable ciga-like. It wasn't great, but it did seem to work better than the traditional methods. I did some research on Google and found the Electronic Cigarette Forum (ECF). The vast majority of what I have learned over the years has been from this forum.

I purchased my first ciga-like kit from Smokless Image. It got me off of cigarettes within a week. I knew that I would have strong cravings for tobacco, so I allowed myself a few cigarettes a day. I vaped as much as I wanted, when I got a strong tobacco craving I vaped even more. When that didn't help, I allowed myself "half" of a cigarette and saved the second half for the next bad craving. Those second "half" butts tasted nasty, but I believe that helped me to quit. Before the week was out I was vaping only and had no desires for those nasty cigarettes.

Within a month I had upgraded from the ciga-likes to my first mod and never looked back. I haven't had a cigarette in five years and haven't wanted or touched one since I smoked my last one.

my cigarettes declined 80% immediately and I stopped smoking using 6 weeks later. A brother of mine reacted about the same but he was a dual user for 10 months.

. Hi, thanks for reply. So far I now swap between vape pen and a halo g6. The g6 helps in the ritual of stepping outside for a smoke. I do not know why but the idea of going on the porch to light up had become an obsession for me. So far g6 is working. Would also like to try a mod sometime. Any advice on those for someone who is not electrically inclined ? Thanks

Thank you for the reply, Wayno77. Government's are strange with regulations. Here in America there is no limit except the sky when it comes to nicotine content in eliquid. Tobacco is another matter. I always wanted those Marlboro ice blasts ! They can't be sold here!
They would require a PMTA. Tobacco gon on the PMTA bandwagon years ago. Vaping is dropping on there in a week or so.

I didn't notice how long you've been dual using. What I say to smokers is, don't worry about quitting smoking, just vape and keep vaping. Flavored liquid, or may be even not so flavored, will change your taste. Gradually cigs will not taste as good. I heard this trick, when you smoke alternate puffs between vaping and smoking. Be patient, perfect your vape. A moment will come when you have more than the usual motivation to stop smoking entirely. If you are vaping when that happens the effort will be reduced may be 80%. Today I can smoke a cigarette (lately an unpleasant experience) and feel no urge for another. Eventually vaping will make you immune to relapse. Control is better than merely quitting.

Sometimes I get overwhelmed by vape lingo ! There must be others with this experience. Believe me, sometimes the internet itself makes me nervous! When I first got a cell phone I had to have my niece instruct me. 21st century America is GREAT a for sure , but I am still in training !

Haha! Vaping lingo is bad, for sure. I had a hard time with it for awhile. In the end, I just ignored anything that didn't apply to me, googled things that I thought might be important, or just asked. People are happy to help. Also, I thing there might be a lingo help file in the ECF library.

Just a thought.. have your vape beside you and handy at all times, but keep your cigarettes in another room, where you actually have to make an effort to go get them. Pretty soon... it just wont be worth the effort to get up to get a smoke, since your vape is RIGHT THERE!!!
I also suggest using tanks with adjustable airflow. When you really want that cigarette, turn the air flow down, you have to pull harder (like on a cigarette) and inhale mouth to lung (like on a cigarette) and sit and hold it and puff for 5 minutes (like a cigarette) or until the urge passes. That's how i got past my after meals and coffee, and bedtime smokes.

One phrase I started using, because I am to lazy to type the full phrase.. is "tune your coil" which is when you "put a new coil on, heat it and play around until it glows evenly from the center"... just saying.. tune the coil is much faster, and people that build coils know what it means. Just like you tune a piano to get the notes perfect.
