So! Like most all EFC members, I to have a few spare CE4 tanks around that just kinda got junky.
My recent obsessions have brought me to look into making a Dual Coil drip build for it, and I was successful!
Sorry for the lack of a video, I have recently run out of Kanthal, and don't have the materials to put up a video! But I will do my best to explain the process of it!
Materials Needed:
Kanthal (I recommend smaller gauges, as this is a bit of a tighter build)
Wicking Material (I used cotton, I would advise against mesh!)
Something to cut metal (Doesn't have be anything heavy duty, I used a leatherman to get the parts off this will need, and a Dremel to get it all sanded down and nice)
Old CE4 tank
Pillars and Duct Tape!
Needle of the sort
Lets get Started!
1: Get that tank Apart! There are a few videos on youtube on how to. DO NOT DESTROY ANY PARTS, YOU WILL NEED THEM ALL. This is why I said Pillars and Duct tape, you can rap the pillars in duct tape, to avoid scrapping up the metal ring at the bottom, and the tank.
2: Make up some pretty small coils 2 of them, make sure you could fit both of them in the ce4, if the post was in it.
3: Go back to your post. You're going to need to get the smaller metal pin out of it, and also, inside of the post, will be a rubber ring! Get these out, and keep these somewhere where you wont loose them, they are essential.
4: Now you'll see that the post has a groove cut down each side, well where that groove and cut down into ends, is what you want to keep. Where it converges into 2 separate sides, you want to remove those, so it is just a closed post, but don't remove any of the closed part of the post.
5: On the Rubber ring, it should be somewhat I shaped, on the bottom part of it, on the shelf that like sticks out of it (Best way to describe it) poke 2 small holes on opposite sides of it, big enough for the Kanthal to get through each side, but be decently snug.
6: Feed one end of one coil, through the hole you made, and the other through the middle of the rubber ring thing. And repeat the same on the other hole you made, with the other coil, making sure neither coils touch.
7: This is the tricky part, manage to get that rubber ring back into the center post, as much as possible, make sure the coils are still set up right in it, so there are no shorts, or detached coils.
8: Put your Pin back in (Through the bottom of the post, so it goes snug into the rubber ring inside the post)
9: Make sure everything is up and okay, now test it on your Ohm Checker (I used the iTaste, because it has a built in one) Check for shorts in it.
10: If no shorts, and a good ohm reading, test fire it, make sure they are glowing, put a drop or 2 on each coil, and test fire them.
11: If everything is working out okay, reassemble the tank with your now modified post. (you can set up the rubber cap onto of the post ro prevent leaking, but I found it can cause the coils to not have enough airflow over them, and cause burning.)
12: Position your coils so they kinda sit to the side of the post, but not touch it. And when you drip, drip down the sides just a tad
Side Notes!
-Sorry if it was a bit confusing, it can be a bit difficult to explain some of the parts. I'll try to get a video up as soon as possible!
-At the end, it should look almost like a ring of cotton or wick at top of the post, Adjust it to your liking
-Remember this is an at-home mod. This isn't suppose to be a professional build. I've gotten so huge could off of it, but be careful if you're new to rebuilds. A bad build, especially on something modded like this can cause damage to PV parts!
-I'll take any questions if they are needed!
