The center pin on my twist has gotten gunked up from leaking liquid and now it does not return to the extended position after being pressed in by my tank. Is there any way to take this thing apart to clean it or does anyone know of a good way to un-gunk this thing?

take apart? umm, I wouldnt unless you really know what you are doing.
I would try iso, or pure grain alcohol or vodka. On a q-tip. I typically clean them like this every few days.

Excellent advice, that's how I do mine! I happen to have access to some lancets, used by diabetics, to really get down and around the pin once the alcohol has loosened the gunk up. I couldn't believe the stuff I was able to get out of there. Maybe a sewing pin or needle would work to help excavate some of the gunk once you've given it time to loosen.
I do the same as before mentioned. I do it every time I recharge my egos. It helps to not let it go on for so long. I get so much black/brown crud out even only after a short time.
