Ive been building for a long time now. Been kind of off and on the vapes since about 2012. Used many devices and attys (oh how things have come along).

Ive used all sorts of pre built claptons and even made my own. Tried my hand at "coil porn" worthy coils (allthough this seems to be alot more effort in to coil building than its worth. Im no cloud chaser).
Ive made all sorts of twisted wires and this and that. Weve all been there.

I can honestly say ive always found the better and most flavourfull vapes to come off of twisted wire (preferrably more than 2 strands). Everyone however pretty much say claptons and flavour are almost synonymous.

Anyone else got pros or cons?
Coil wars : Twisted vs Clapton

Personal preferences, experiences, and results are welcome!

The absolute BEST flavour build ive ever made is this here
20170708_125619.jpg
That basicly turned my old pharaoh "dripper tank" in to a flavour engine. With a buttload of vapor to spare.

Theres the same wire in my aromamizer plus (i made about 20ft one day when i was bored).

Thats just one example of 1 wire.

That wire is 26g SS chain wire.

Ive been having all sorts of better luck elsewhere as well using just my drill and round wire.

It's all personal preference. I've done twisted, parallel, and Clapton/fused Clapton and for overall performance in my builds Clapton or fused Clapton seem to give me the best result for my taste.
I too have found the best flavor in twisted coils. I've tried claptons, fused claptons, twisted fused claptons, etc but still my best flavor has come from bare twisted coils. Maybe the RTA could be the difference in others experiences? One note...I just built some wire out 36 claptoned onto 28 and twisted 2 strands together. I'm about to coil it with hopes of a tasty experience lol
One more note....that should read bare twisted coils in parallel. Aka zippers

I have some small wire coming in the mail right now im going to experiment with paralell micro chain. If you dont wrap as tight you get voids within the wire. A natural "wick" if you will.

I've tried chains and they aren't bad but I only get a couple of days out of them. They tend to gunk up really quick for me. Again maybe this is the difference between rta/rba? I'm using a Griffin 25 atm. Oh and I should prolly note I only build with kanthol

Heres the current state of the 26g ss chain in my aromamizer

As you can see the condensation has reached the top of the wicks. Gunking them up (likely because theres a little more wick than whats needed). But the coils themselves are still doing quite well. Almost not gunked up at all.

I run this at 130w with short (1.5s or less) puffs. Its had about 40ml of juice through it.

Hmmm....I wonder how much the difference in our hitting styles makes. I tend to take longer hits(3-5secs) and run at lower wattage. Right now I'm using 26ga zippers at 50 watts w/ 80vg juice. Think the difference in SS and kanthol makes a difference?

They do definitely make a difference.
Some people hate the taste of SS wire. I myself prefer SS or n80 over kanthal. Faster ramp up times with higher wattages would definitely set us both apart on wire types.
I like a quick, thick vape. No matter the cloud size.
Alot of people swing the other way on that.

Thats why everything is always so subjective

Right right. I've been considering trying SS. I've read a lot of good things about the taste but my local shop never carries it so I've always just used kanthol. I've started ordering vape supplies now tho as the shop was about to break me lol. You're running in power mode right? Honestly I've never figured out temp control but I haven't had to with kanthol

Using twisted SS in tc is almost useless.
My ijoy captain and alien 220 cant process the wire that thick.
Someone can correct me if im wrong but i believe SS TC should only be used in single wire spaced builds. Or low gauge twisted/claptons.

Ive tried TC with all my stainless twisted builds and none of them work properly
I gotcha. I'm running an Alien too...maybe u can tell me what that TC value is after you select the wire type in temp control. The guys at my local shop haven't even been able to tell me that....lol

Not any help, but my ss fused claptons work fine on my dnas - dual fused 28/36, single fused 24/36, single fused 28/36. A single fused 24/36 is even running fine on an old kbox in ss tc. Only thing in common is they are spaced, and were fired just to make sure there were heating evenly. I have gotten contact ss coils working in tc if I've made sure they are perfectly heating evenly; and then messed up the tc by rewicking. So I just always space them now. Sorry, but I've never tried twisted in tc.

I have ss316l juggernaut coils running in tc on a lost vape Drone and it works perfectly.

Comes down to definition of Best Flavor.....

I prefer twisted to c laptops mainly for juice and power consumption reasons....

Claptons do give MORE flavor.... Problem is they require more power and use more juice to do it... twisted provide more nuanced flavor and imo better tasting vapor.

So if you like chugging a beer from a mug go clapton.... if you prefer to sip your drinks go twisted or straight simple wire builds.

These make for a delicious vape. I was kinda hoping to get the best of both worlds (Clapton/twisted) and I think I have. Pics aren't the best but hopefully you'll get the idea
