Some winder dials even at brand new can be too loose. Regular hardware store heavy vinyl tubing slipped over the winder dial ends the problem ... for an exact custom fit, use 1/4 round, then slip it over needle nose pliers and place in boiling water and slowly stretch it. Place over winder dial and it shrinks to fit. You then twist both the dial and the vinyl spins too but never moves from its own position. the vinyl in the pic was a 1/4 inch stretch in water job. This also works at the other end to cover ventilation holes on a favorite thread cover from something else when your new clearo already has adjustable holes.
