2 week report

So I have been vaping for just over 2 weeks so far and I thought I should share my experiences with other new people.

Fist let me explain how I smoked. I smoked about a pack of Marlboro Mild 100s a day for about 15 years. I would only smoke outside wether at home or at work for 1 cigarette about every hour.

When I heard about e-cigarettes, I started searching the net for more information and it lead me here. After I started researching I figured I should figure out just what about smoking I needed. I decided that the thing important to me were throat hit, the "full lung" feeling, and nicotine content (in that order of importance). I read everything I could for about a month both here and other place around the internet and finally decided on a Joye 510 with 24mg Menthol juice.

I ordered a starter kit (2 attys, 2 manual batteries, AC recharger, and 5 prefilled, flat tipped carts) and 2 30ml bottles of juice from Healthcabin. There was an estimated 7 to 11 day wait for shipping. My order arrived after 5 days (including a weekend). Everything arrived in the same package and smelled heavily of menthol. I was afraid that one or both of the bottles of juice had leaked, but I could find no evidence once I had opened the package. Everything was very well packaged. All items were in perfect condition, except for one of the attys which I needed a pair of pliers to remove the empty cart installed in it for shipping. On closer inspection, there was a defect in the manufacturing of the atty that left a ridge on the inside that made it a very tight fit on the cart. A few minutes with a small pocket knife and it was good as new (or in this case, better than new). Both batteries were showing green (charged) when I put them on the charger but I left them on for about 2 hours each before use. I also blew out both attys before use. Note: The chemicals that are left on the atty after the manufacturing process is still on the bridge when you get it. Be carefull when blowing it out. It didn't take much to clear but if you blow too hard it can come back out into your mouth and it tastes like... well it tastes really bad.

First impression
Wow... despite the difference in weight, feel, and look, it was amazingly close to smoking an analog. The vapor production was on par with, if not better than, an analog. The throat hit was just as good as the marlboro brand (a bit harder than camels which I could smoke forever and still want a cigarette). Even the draw stringth was perfect. I was using the 24mg marlboro flavored prefilled cart that was included in the kit. It was just like smoking a Marlboro Red but it seemed quite a bit stronger. After vaping a bit (much longer than I would have smoked an analog) I had to stop as the lighheadedness had become a problem. So I waited an hour and went back out for "smoke". This time I topped off the cart with a drop or two of menthol juice. Wow again... It tasted exactly like the analogs I smoked but a bit stronger.

The next 2 weeks
I have continued to vape just as I had smoked. My body has gotten used to the increase in noctine and I only get even slightly lightheaded if I vape for a long time (like chain-smoking 2 analogs) and first thing in the morning. I will probably drop down to 18mg next time I order juice. I haven't filled a cart yet, I have just been topping off (about 3-5 drops every other "smoke" break) the prefilled carts, as the taste is vary similar to my analogs. So far I have used about 2 thirds of a 30ml bottle, which is quite a bit less than my initial estimates.

After about 2 days I noticed a severe increase in sensitivity in my sense of smell. Especially around analog smokers. I can no longer stand the smell of regular cigarettes. By day 4 my sense of taste had improved quite a bit. I have noticed that a lot of things taste different now and all flavors taste stronger. Other than that I have not experienced any of the other side effects (good or bad).

I still have a half of pack of analogs in my kitchen drawer but have not even wanted to try one. Best I can figure is that all of my needs are being met and the awful smell from my wife smoking reenforces the things I hated about analogs. Reguardless, I haven't even been able to smoke one just to see what it would be like now.

All the parts I have are still working perfectly. A batteries lasts for about 6 or 7 analogs worth of time (about 6 or 7 hours for me) and only take about an hour to fully recharge from completely dead. I did have a drastic reduction in vapor production after about a week of use on a single atty, but it returned to normal after a good rinsing in hot water and a couple days drying time.

In short, I love vaping and I do not see myself returning to analogs. Thanks to everyone here for the advice.

Congrats on your success. Next time you order juice, you might want to pick up a couple of spare attys and maybe an extra battery. These components will eventually fail and you don't want to have to wait for a delivery. I know what you mean about analogs stinking now. I still haven't gotten my wife competely off them, and at times can't stand the smell of them. They seem to stink even more with the new special paper to make them go out on their own......more chemicals for the lungs.
