So, long story short: I was vaping and wanted to take off the atty. I couldn't unscrew it. I am not in the habit of tightening it super tight, but it would not come off. I tried everything. Cloth over the hands, teeth, and eventually brought out the pliers. I pulled off the atty housing, the coil and the wick. The base of the atty is still in there. Should I just give the Reo a nice bath or what?

I don't think changing the temperature of the Grand to either hotter or colder, will do any good. The atty base is probably free machining brass and the connector is probably 303 stainless. If so, then the coefficient of expansion of both metals is near the same, which means heating or freezing the Grand will expand or contract the metals at the same rate.

If the needlenose pliers don't work, then you could find someone that has some LN (liquid nitrogen) in a spray can, like a doctors office, then they can spray the atty base with it and shrink it. Then it should be easily to unscrew.

If that fails, then you can get a small easy-out tool from a hardware store that will fit in the center hole of the atty base and lightly tap the easy-out into the center hole to engage the easy-out into the brass. Then turn the easy-out counter clockwise with pliers or a small crescent wrench and the atty base will unscrew. I think they don't make easy-outs that small, so you may have to carefully drill the center hole larger to fit the easy-out. Be careful not to go too deep and drill the connector.

if you don't want to mess with it, then send the Grand to Rob. I'm sure this is not something new to him.

Liquid nitrogen- to much hassle- just use some butane or even a can of compressed air- if used upside down, you get the very cold liquid to come out...try to use it only on the atty base- shrinking it and not the grand's connector. Still, you will probably have to use needle nose to get it out. Oh, and make sure you're battery is out when you do all of this. ;)

+1 good suggestions. Make sure not to spray your hand with that compressed air while its upside-down. It is so called that it will burn your skin.

Yeah, we are going on and on but seems Rob may know something else to be up...
I'd like to hear an update on this and how it's resolved. I had an atty do something similar in my Grand once but it was not stuck so much I couldn't get it out with some tweezers. This one seems much more involved than that.
