Thanks. Unfortunately I don't know anyone locally to help out but I tend to do well on most DIY projects that I take on. That being said, I'm only days into this club so I am going to take it slow for now. I have a habit of going into stuff hardcore from the start. I'll do a lot of reading through it before I take the plunge. I always love saving money by doing stuff myself. That being said if I only aim to keep below my previous tobacco budget I should be good to buy as many different juices as I please lol

I'm the same way! I went into it hardcore! There are several threads in this sub forum that are invaluable! It's super fun and easy once you get everything right! My biggest hurdle, that almost made me give up, was figuring out what my "drop per ml" was. The rule of thumb is 20 drops per ml. I realized after a bunch of failures that the equipment that I was using was actually 40 drops per ml! After that I have had the most fun coming up with new liquids, and have actually come up with 6 liquids that will completely replace all my store bought juices! I haven't bought juice in a while! Of course the savings went back into my DIY!

Read a bunch, learn, and have a lot of fun! Don't forget to ask questions if you're having trouble and can't find the answers here in the threads!

Oh boy.... just wandered into this section... my girlfriend is going to hate me... lab equipment, bottles of flavour, mad scientist grin! :w00t:

Here's a good place to start. There's a lot of contradiction and varied opinions on how to approch this within these threads which will lead a new member into confusion. I've been at this for a while and considered an expert in these here parts. So start with my recommendations and it will give you a firm foundation to wade through the maze of information you will find here.

My blogs will give insight into all aspects of DYI, from steeping to what supplies to have on hand to a basic walk through mixing your first E-juice.

Then read hoosier's blogs. These blogs concentrate on fine tuning your mix and give insight on additives.

Then read Boletus's blog's. These blogs concentrate on formulation of nicotine bases regarding proper calculations methods for figuring Nicotine concentration as well as safety.

Then read Ginger's book "E-Cigarettes 102: DIY E-Liquid". It is a book which I've contributed to that delivers an in depth easy to follow guide in the art of DYI.

I recommend viewing VPLive Vape Team Episode #82: DIY Safety and bookmark it for future reference. It explains safety in all aspects of DYI.

then read the stickies at the top of the page.

this will explain a lot of the how's and why's.

There may be a learning curve to mixing up your own recipes but not so much just to make a recipe you find on ECF or elsewhere.
As long as you use common sense at can suck 1.1 ml of flavor into a syringe, or whatever the Juice Calculator tells you, then you'll be good.

I highly recommend this Juice Calculator especially because it is very easy to use for beginners and has lots of features for when you get going strong.

I would give the following advice for noobs in DIY:

Read/search, read/search and read/search some more when you're done reading/searching!

Second, finding out how to mix is easy with various guides, calculators and such, but before throwing a bunch of flavors together in a mix that sounds nice, then imho you need to have tried each and every flavor by itself standalone, so as you know exactly what that flavor brings to the table, and how strong it is.

Also, I would really recommend trying also pg by itself unflavored, and then vg by itself unflavored(I prefer adding 20% demineralized/distilled water to max-vg mixes), so as to also know how exactly these two compounds will influence the final taste of a mix.

Finally, imho, then water is great to both bring out the flavor more, get better wicking, get more effecient evaporation through the lowered boiling-point and finally maximizing coil/wick longevity. With pg add 10% and 20% with max-vg is my recommendation.

Personally I have been DIY'ing for about a year or so, but have recently getting to be really happy about unflavored vg with 20% water, so nowadays that is the only vape I ever make...

Also, for me, then I found out by trying everything seperate, that i actually hate the taste of pg, and actually find it's metallic, alchoholic dry taste to be sweeter than vg, though i'm not allergic or anything. PG however, does wonders for brightening fruit flavor up imho...

Also vg to me has a musty earthy slightly sweet kinda taste to it that I have come to really appreciate...
