Hi Guys

New here and could do with some advice J

I bought a disposable e-cig for a laugh at a local garage a couple of weeks ago and was pretty impressed. I did a bit of research and decided I would like to get a proper PV and try and pack the fags in for good. So- I started reading into the various models available last week and I think I have got to a point now where I know most of the terminology, roughly what is on offer some of the pros and cons of the various options out there.

I have come to the conclusion that:

I would like a mini or “replica” sized unit but have accepted that battery performance isn’t great and nor are upgrade options

The “tank” system seems great in theory but I really can’t be dealing with leaking this, that and the other

Cartomizers seem pretty practical in theory but after reading up on here re. scorched/burnt wicks and what not and actually disassembling my disposable and finding the insides scorched- they are something I would like to steer clear of.

Clearomizers- seem like a good compromise but fiddly filling and breakages kind of put me off but I like the idea of seeing how much juice you have left to play with.

Dripping- this actually seems like the simplest option for me. I don’t mind carrying around a little bottle of juice and wouldn’t have to worry about anything leaking/ burning etc- however- I would like the option to use a clearomizer and a cartomizer if I so wish.

Bearing the above in mind, could someone point me towards a decent starter kit or even just recommend me a good base to start with and I will get a “kit” together myself. I would like to drip, use a clearomizer and a cartomizer if possible and would like as close to a “normal” cigarette size setup as possible, without sacrificing too much battery life. Oh- also if someone could point me towards a decent UK supplier

Oh, also, those who drip- how long does say 3 drips last exactly? Is it like 3 drips to a “normal” cigarette or what? Do I need to drip 1 at a time or just bung it all in there?

Hope you guys can help

Cheers

Lewis

I would stay away from polyfill or filler-type cartomizers as much as possible. After using clearomizers, I realized how dry the vapor from a cartomizer is. That's just my experience from using Boge Cartos, though a lot of people really like them for some reason. I feel like I need water between every hit off a cartomizer. You might look into a Joye 650mAh Ego style, which will allow you to keep a smaller form with a bit longer battery life than an emulator, and allow you to experiment with cartomizers, atomizers, etc. Just my :2c:.

edit : By the way, from what I've gathered since I've started "clearomizers" are technically cartomizers as that term means cartridge and atomizer in one unit. So, that said, there are a slew of types of cartomizers.

Hello & welcome Lewvap :)

I've recommended the following Riva 1100 to so many folks new to e-cigs (including my next door neighbours) & they all find it to be a brilliant kit. OK it's not a ciggie lookalike, more the size of a cigar but you would soon et fed up of recharging a ciggie lookalike every few hours - Use discount code ECF10 for 10% off -

The Riva 1100 Deluxe Kit £34.95 - Deluxe Vaping Kits - Riva 1100 Kit Electronic Cigarettes | Vaping Devices | Accessories | E-Liquid

The above kit comes with atomisers & cartridges, so you could drip with them. Alternativly, you can ask the (very helpful UK) seller, at check out, to swap the atomisers for cartomisers - if you do so you will be sent 10 cartomiserrs. You will also need to buy some e-liquid & that same seller does a good pic & mix range.

I would recommend The Volt if you absolutely must have something that looks like a cigarette, as I feel that kit is about the best out there of that type; however, I think in the long run you would be better off with an EGO or KGO (or Riva knockoff type). The battery will last you all day and you will be able to use more options with it. I prefer either dripping on an atomizer or lately I have fallen in love with the Vision/Stardust Clearomizers and the new Phoenix Clearomizers from gotvapes that just came out. As far as dripping, I normally use about 3 drops on an atomizer and it can last me anywhere between 10 to 12 puffs. I guess it depends on the juice you are using and how good your atomizer is. Sorry, but I don't know about any UK vendors and I'm not sure if Gotvapes delivers to the UK. I'm so glad you found out about e-cigs and wish you the best of luck. Just keep on vaping til you find your happy zone because there are so many options out there and everyone is different :)

I agree with most above.

For a cig-a-like - Volt

For more flexibility - I would look into an eGo, they are 3.4 volt and start at 650mah and go up to the larger 900 mah I think. The 650 mah is only larger in diameter than a cig-a-like (like the size of a sharpie compared to a pen) and as the mah go up so does length. If you were going to go with the 900 mah I would recommend a KGO/Riva or E-power as they are a bit more powerful at 3.7 volts.

I believe Liberty Flights has a UK site that you can check out.

Good luck.

Lewvap, the only thing that you would need to start dripping with a 3 piece would be a drip tip. Though it's not essential as you could still use the cartridges as a mouth piece instead.

Drip tips -

Electronic Cigarettes | Vaping Devices | Accessories | E-Liquid

However, if you bought the kit I linked to in my post#4, there is a good chance that supplier will send you a drip tip as a free gift. He nearly always includes a freebie - usually a drip tip or other times a free sample of juice.

A bottle of glycerine to cut your e-liquid with will save you money and often increase vapour production. Starting out with an ego is a good idea. In many ways it's better to get a two-battery kit to start with as you will normally also then get a USB charger with it and a couple of atomisers. Buy at least a couple of drip tips - they're great. Dripping is both easy and an art - you'll find out what I mean when you get going. It would also be worthwhile trying a couple of lr 510 atomisers - you'll lose a little flavour but may find that the increased vapour and warmth more than make up for it. If you want to try a really easy option (even easier than dripping) then the CE4+ clearomiser is great. All imho and ymmv, but not a bad set-up for starters.:)
