I tried to enter the site and this is what was there:

UK Vapers is currently unavailable
Forum closed for emergency maintenance. Sorry for the inconvenience, we'll be back ASAP!

Jackie

Update (as of 9pm)

Unfortunately I need to perform a forum upgrade. As many will know from past experience, this takes quite some time. So don't expect the forum to be back online tonight. Apologies, but it's a necessity for security reasons. I'll be as fast as I can!

Tough break, UK vapers. I'd second the motion to run a system check to uncover malware and virus contamination. I like Malwarebytes registered edition. The run time protection from paying the $24.95 lifetime license gets you real time sifting of re-direction to rogue sites. Mine blocks and warns me when a rogue site sends me somewhere that is on the list.

No matter what I use to check for virus and malware I always come up clean. Microsoft Security Essentials and Malwarebytes have been the best combination yet for keeping the peace in my OS.

I clicked on a couple of threads & ended up being redirected so I run a full scan on my PC last night. I didn't remain on that site long enough to read everything but it only takes a fraction of a sec for some malware to sneak into your pc. I have had it before to the point I needed to crash the PC to stop dozens of windows opening. The geeks that cause us all these problems really need to get a life & a job as they must be very lonely
The site is still down today so its looking like tomorrow before its back up. Even then I would imagine it will be basic until everything is sorted. This is going to take many hours work to sort out. So to check on UKV...... http://ukvapers.com/

I was there also when the *hit hit the fan.have scanned pc ect.but just checked spam emails folder and low and behold I have been invited to some rubbish for jubilee at houses of parliment and am being called a freeman ;) now that is all very funny but does that mean they got to the data base.

no doubt about it. If you have a read of page one of this thread, someone has already said that most registered members got an email from the hackers. So they have our email addys. Just change your password when the site is up again. If you use the same email & password for paypal then it may be a good idea to change it.

I shouldn't worry too much about malware. It's more likely a server-side hack. Also, passwords are encrypted in the database with that particular forum package, so there is not much chance of them having your password.

They may have your email address, but that's not the end of the world, just redirect any mails from them to your junk email folder. Don't open any attachments from these clowns either.

Anonymous. A bunch of utter dickheads with no real point or cause. More of a nuisance than any real threat.

What's ironic is that it redirected you to some "important political video" which, of course, everyone ignored as spam. Way to make a point you ....... Nobody actually cared about whatever message they were trying to get across. Utterly idiotic in every sense.

UKV stil down at the moment. No further update from Jackie. Hopefully later within the day. Wish we can serve some retribution to those geeks for hacking the site...

yes don't we all. They are just bored kids who like to impress themselves as they have not impressed anyone else. What did they gain? nothing whatsoever. If they really think they are skilled then they should try to hack the military computers where there are experts better than they will ever be waiting to track them down. I remember a few yrs ago a guy from london hacked into the US navy computers & brought down their network over a very large area of USA. They tracked him & he was taken into custody & sent to USA for trial. I never did find out what happened to him but it would be more than a slap on the wrist. Perhaps he is still locked up.
