Hey guys. I received my order from My Vapor Store today and just had a quick question. Are you supposed to let these clearos air out or flush them before first use? I ordered 6 packs of the following: 510 Ultimate CE2 Clearomizer XLand I randomly took 3 out (each from separate packs) and all of them have a plastic taste, even after vaping on them for a bit. With the clearos i received from volcano they were good to go out of the pack. If anyone has any insight I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks in advance.

The plastic taste is coming from your coil coming into contact with the silicone seal that goes around the ceramic cup. When I first used this type of clearomizers I absolutely hated them until I figured out what the problems were. Now they are my primary vape with anything else a distant second. I take that seal out and notch the wick holes a little bigger and that usually does the trick. And use a drip tip also otherwise you end up sucking in a lot of juice. They have a lot of you tube vids on Modding these to help you through it.

Even a fresh one wreaks of a BPA-ish smell, that's after washing too. I called the company the other day between classes. He said to give airing them out and flushing them a try (I have since speaking with him), and if that doesn't work, they will allow a return. I didn't get the person's name I spoke with, so hopefully the return will still be valid when I call again tomorrow.

Honestly, this is now seeming like a hassle and making me yearn for a real cig. They may cause cancer, but they taste a hell of a lot better than plastic

I bought a pack too, and had the burnt taste as well with each one in my pack. I did a few dry-burns on each one until there was no steam. I think there is bit of break-in required on these. It seems like there was something on the coils that would not go away easily without the dry burns. Oh yeah, I only use the center ring.

I should add that I did a vodka soak after burning the gunk off of the coils. All of mines are operating as expected now. Just wish there was a lower ohm available. I bought the smoky black pack. Hope this helps.

I ALWAYS, when I get new ones

1. Take out ALL 3 plugs (for XLs)
2. Wiggle off tube
3. rinse wick/stem in Vodka
4. Rinse bare tubes in hot tap water, dry
5. Gently pat dry wick/stem
6. Dry burn until steam is gone
7. make sure there is NO moisture
8. fill down the side of cup, center cup
9. reassemble using "O" ring instead of fill plug
10.Vape the cleanest juice taste ever.

IMO, these Kill carto tanks when cleaned properly, follow same steps when cleaning, except rinse stems in water and then soak in Vodka for a couple hours.

I guess after my initial purchase from volcano I expected all companies to adhere to such high standards. Now I know that no baseline exists at all, and not every company tests for quality control.
I think it's pretty random. Volcano has an awesome atty back in the day called the Magma, about a year later they started branding something other than the SLB as Magma, and they were awful. Then they had great clearomizers, but when I re-upped from them in the past month (their new/current stock), they are absolutely awful, do not wick properly and I highly doubt they come from the same source. Volcano is very hit and miss and like any company just buy whatever is cheap and then affix their branding to it, much like the situation with their batch of fake batteries for the LavaTube which were knock-offs. My total dissatisfaction with Volcano is one of the reasons I'm buying CE2's elsewhere.

Mattdog tell me what you mean by only using the o-ring instead of the fill plug? Can I just use the smaller ring in there and completely eliminate the thicker fill plug?? Seems like it would leak. As to the rest of this, I agree if treated properly theres nothing better than a ce2.

The O-Ring/washer is enough to keep the liquid in for most cases. Using the o-ring/washer alone also allows you to fill the CE2 Ultimate without a syringe. The CE2 wicks much better this way and produces more vapor. However, if laying on a table or upside down for long periods; the CE2 may leak. I'd recommend using a drip tip as well. The drip tip also helps prevent leakage.

I prep mine by pulling off all the seals from the top and only using the middle seal with groove down and a drip tip.

Thats exactly what I do too. You go from zero to hero in 3 minutes flat! These CE2s are the best atty for my money. One pack of five lasts more than a month, maybe two. I don't even clean them (unlike pricey 510's).

It's a trick some figure out on their own or need to learn more about from others, because it truly works!

I had an off taste, too. But it was definite burned rubber. As a previous poster suggested, I leave the inner most ring a little above the coil. After doing that, I haven't had any plastic taste at all. But, I vape 100% veg. Maybe the PG reacts with the PBA or whatever the material is. Beats me.

A Hint:
I vape thick veggie juice, so I leave all 3 gizmos in place. With any of them left out, the liquid tends to come out of the mouth piece. (Yuck!) But, at My Vapor Store's suggestion, if I cut the juice with a tiny bit of water, there is no juice-in-the-mouth, even with the rings left out. Must have something to do with viscosity.

Speaking of Veg Liquid- these work great with thin or thick veg juice. i set my variable on about 3.7 and get tons of vapor. If I want a hot 'smoke' I ramp it up a little. If I goof & burn, a couple of puffs makes it go away- No washing or rinsing.

I'm happy with them. (PS: I have had them in my pocket upside down like a knucklehead. No leaks!)
