Ultra Easy Variable Voltage Box Mod... Under 50 bucks! Darth Vapor VV

So I had this idea... I had a Notcigs Terminator sitting here doing nothing because all my PVs are variable now... and I thought it might be cool to use it to build a nice little variable voltage box mod!

I took that Terminator, a mad vapes 3AAA box, a cheap 510 connector and a radio shack switch and I built a really functional Variable voltage box that really works great!

This is really simple... 2 14500 batteries wire to the switch then to the 510 connector which is held in place with hot glue... screw in the terminator that has been inserted through a hole in the box big enough for the diameter, and voila'... Variable Voltage Box mod...

In these pics, I've put an eGo mega carto with the skirt removed, cuz it looks like Darth Vaders PV in all black..

I call this... the Darth Vapor VV

The Notcigs Terminator is a VV regulator that has male and female 510 (or 901) connectors on it. It's designed to put inline on HV Mods to turn them into VV... Handy if you have a stacked battery mod. It's available all by itself on the notcigs site for 39.95... The nice thing about this box mod is that it can be removed from the BOX, and still used on other PVs in the arsenal as well.

40$ is pretty pricy, the real question is, how often does anyone with that mod actually change the voltage! Im a 5 volt guy you see. And I honestly think thats perfect. The only reason id want to adjust voltage is if I re-start trying to build or mod atty's. And thats Not what these are intended for anyways. So please, why do you need it?

If you think 5v is perfect; great for you, but you aren't everyone else. I like to vape LR attys at 3.7 and HV's at 5.5v and regs in between. This method gives me flexibility to enjoy all those options.

It makes a huge difference And I change voltage quite a bit... I can't imagine having a tv with no volume control... Or a shower with one temperature.

That's a pretty smart move and a nice build. I too was happy with 5 volt until I got my first V.V. P.V. and now I wouldn't go back for nothing. I like being able to turn my power level up or down to find the best setting for whatever carto or juice I'm using.

It seems to be a linear regulator, based on the heat that comes out of it... the voltage seems to hold pretty well until the batteries are nearly at cut-off voltage.

Lol... That's cool... The first VV mod I built used an LM317, but it was lacking in the current department and that poor pair of 14500s lasted about an hour and a half... But it got me started in VV and I'll always be glad I built it... Have fun with it!

That's a depressing stat. A fixed 5 volt LDO linear regulator lasts me 1/2 a day with aging 14500s. I was hoping dialing the voltage down would increase the lifetime...... Might have to look into one of them thar switching regs.....
