Yep. It came out in several pieces, but the bottoms of all the wick threads were black. Think I may have toasted it.
Definitely. I don't know why they would keep the wicks in. Probably just to keep the coil wet during shipping.

Awesome. Thanks. Yeah, this bridgeless one is rated at 1.7 +/-, so maybe a bit too LR for the Kgo. What does the "three-hole" description mean? Holes by the threaded end that attaches to the battery? I'm guessing these are "bridged" attys. How does the bridge affect dripping? And I'm guessing these don't have wicks?
No there is a shield inside that sits just above the coil. Sometimes the coil can pop off a bit of hot juice your way. the shield keeps that from happening.
The bridge is just unnecessary for dripping, gets in the way and hangs on to juice and flavor more
Excellent. Well if these things are bridgeless, wickless AND have a splash shield, I'm sold. Thanks for the tip. Even though this current atty might be wrecked, the hits I've gotten since taking the wick out have made me want to continue dripping. Massive flavor and throat hit.
