I just DIYd up some 24 mg unflavored juice at 80PG/20VG as a base stock for flavoring later. Being that taste ranks down on my list of importance (TH and vapor production being most important,) I'm really seriously thinking about trying to vape it.

I know when I worked in the lab, I actually tasted pure H2O. Lots of folks say they want it, but if you try it...you won't want it anymore. It's a bit bitter.

Am I in for a similar experience with no flavoring or will it truly be "unflavored?"

There was a thread in DIY a week or so ago where people were discussing this. I think this is it: http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/diy-e-liquid/142566-perfect-flavorless-vape.html

I've never tried it, so I can't say anything one way or the other.

Thanks Spazzy! I suppose a forum search would have been more helpful huh? Sheesh! I'm really not with it today. Checkin' out your link now.

I tried some unflavored when I first received my order of RTS nic. base. Mine had no taste at all..It was like water...So for me it was quite boring..I like all 4, Flavor, TH, Nic. delivery, and vapor production...

Thanks Jimi D!

It probably would have been difficult to find. A search would bring up a lot of hits about where to buy unflavored, and how to dilute it. :D I just happened to have seen the thread a while ago and paged back through DIY till I found it.

I scanned through it. They're saying that pure VG has a sweeter taste. I don't really want to go to that thickness, though that thread did make me seriously think about getting some ECOpure VG after my Humco stuff is gone. They also bring up some very good points about the flavorings adding to the unknown effects of vaping. Crud, after enduring the taste of analogs for all those years, surely unflavored will still be better.

I and several others here vape unflavored only. I started soon after I started vaping because it was the end of winter and I wanted to smell the smells of springtime that I haven't smelled since I was a kid. I was greatly rewarded! Best spring ever!

I continued because it makes my cartos last forever, extremely inexpensive, not being at the mercy of the vendors, etc,etc,etc...

Mine has a light taste of vanilly sweetness, you could also add a drop or two of your fav flavor, of course.

I chain vape a 80/20 PG/VG mix and even at lower amount of VG, I still taste sweetness. I really thought I was one of few but after looking around, there are quite a few of us unflavored vapers around here. I get a little rashy at certain flavors was my main reason for the switch to unflavored.

Interesting - I'm doing the mad scientist thing myself for the first time today :)

I'm stalking the mailman, who's got my PG in an Express Mail box - at least USPS says it hit town yesterday.

I'm trying to step down, so I'm doing 300ml of unflavored 9.5mg 80/20 this afternoon and have 12ml of Flavour Art RY4 coming in the same box as the PG - I've already got some caramel and vanilla here if I wanna jazz things up a little. I figure I'll do 5ml batches since it's easy to measure and once I think I have it nailed I'll vape it for a few days to make sure it's what I want before I do the big batch.

The CE2s the spousal unit hates are finally gonna find a purpose testing 0.5ml samples - I figure I'll drip first, then try the CE2s, then tweak a little more if necessary and if it works, use it in an EMDCC for a couple days.

If I take good notes maybe this will all work out :)

joogler chill and halo menthol ice... I am a chain vapor so I carry 3 pvs with me all day each with one of the 3 flavors in them. the unflavored is 50/50 pg/vg and 6mg nic

That's interesting. I'm a menthol fan also. I'm thinking that when I want menthol, I can just add a drop or two to a small amount and be good to go.

Exactly what I was thinking. Everybody clear the pool, I'm diving in!

Huh! Here I thought I had an original idea. Should have known better.

I'll be trying bulk unflavored mixing this coming week. I've been ordering it pre-mixed, but my suppliers have been good to start and then send me nasty stuff.
I'm trying RTS, CCV, ONESTOPDIY for the first time. If RTS is good, I'll stick with them because it's USA grown and mixed.

I have RTS now. Hopefully it's good.

Quite often I mix 20% pg based 100mg mixed with 80% vg. Since the VG is so thick, I always premix my vg with 20% distilled water. Makes a good, clean, unflavored vape. Since it is so clean, I can crank up the voltage a fair amount, and it still doesn't burn. Makes a HUGE amount of vapor. Sometimes I might add a small amount of sucralose since I don't mind a little sweetness, or a very small amount of menthol for a slight cooling effect. As you just said, equipment lasts far longer without the heavy flavoring and it is MUCH less expensive. I just posted in another forum some short addition, and I can make flavorless for 5 cents per ml at 20 mg strength; can't beat that with analogs.

    Thats a great idea!

I'm a little leery of sucralose though. The FDA says it's safe as a sugar sub, but there are studies aplenty that suggest joint damage (amongst other things) by it. I know I used to have really debilitating knee issues when I used it in various sweetners. When I stopped using it and went to real sugar, the knee issues stopped. Maybe it was just in my wee little brain, but I swear it made a huge difference for me.

That said, I know other people that use it constantly and have no issues at all, so this is a personal thing for me.
