Please be careful not to overstate the issue when contacting these folks. They got a lot of email accusing them of banning ecigs, when they were voting on a temporary moratorium preventing a San Jose "vape Bar" from expanding into their city while they try to learn more.

They have a separate action coming up (at the urging of their local Ca State Senator, Ellen Corbett) to maybe ban vaping where smoking is banned. They have no plans to ban sales in the city.

So, my impression from listening to the city council people (who are all VERY nice people!) is we should please stay on topic for the specific action we are protesting, or they think CASAA is spreading misinformed propaganda. We do NOT want to accidentally besmirch CASAA's name.

It also does a better job of convincing them to change their minds if our arguments are on point to what their topic is.

Quoted again, for even more emphasis...

I noted in my email to the council persons, that hookah products, are not the same a vaping an e-cig. Told them to check out the CASAA web site, if they want to be a well informed elected official.

This urging from Corbett is interesting. She couldn't get the job done, at least this year, when she authored SB648, so now she is trying an end run in Union City. If she can get Union City to ban e-cig vaping the same as smoking, she could go back the CA Assembly, and say something like "Hey, our cities are banning ecigs, we should too." Tricky.
