So, I'm looking for a replacement for my Smoktech gripper that is falling apart. I want something metal that can stand up to some usage. I just bought a 1000 mah twist as a backup, but had some bad luck with one previously. Through browsing the forum, I found discount vapers. They have several APVs in my price range. The cheapest ones require 18350s, which I don't have. So I'd have to buy new batteries and a new charger, as my gripper uses an 18650 and I got an 18650 charger (I should have got a "universal" one, but didn't). Then I saw the Uniq Lava 3.0 which uses the 18650 battery. It is more expensive than the cheaper smaller battery APVs they sell, but I wouldn't have to purchase new batts/charger, so I'd prefer to buy this before anything else. I know it won't have all of the features the gripper has, but honestly, they aren't that accurate anyway, so I'm not too worried. The Gripper is my first and only APV, so I don't have much experience with them, and hope somebody who has/had one can chime in and help. I've been an ego user for several years, but the dang ego booster last year changed my world, and I've been loving VV ever since :)

Nobody at all has tried this? :( I may not want to get it after all....

I'm interested also GIMike. My vv Gripper developed a short and burnt the wires going to the 510 connection. It appears that the silicone seal in the connection was torn at some point, probably on assembly. I'm missing it, but the Uniq 3.0 looks like a good option.

I don't think mine had a silicon seal. It just popped out one day, and I didn't see any signs of silicon.

Definitely wanting something metal this time around.
